its less a mistaken misconception and more out of date information, the elites were usually the first edition of the 360 to get mobo upgrades so initially the elite was more reliable

penpusher

Yeah. That was like two years ago though.

It's how people think that Elites have better hardware and are less likely to RRoD. Seriously, that is the stupidest thing ever. Why would Microsoft gimp one SKU and then make the other more reliable? Especially since the Arcade is their best selling SKU? Think people, ffs...

All 360s have had the "Jasper" motherboards since late last year/early this year so all new 360s are going to beexactly as reliable as the next.

There are three differences between the Elite and the Arcade:

1) Color. Elite is black with a chrome disc tray and the Arcade is plain white.

2) Elite comes with a 120gb hdd, Arcade doesn't (has a plastic grate covering hdd port).

3) The Arcades have 512mb of storage on the motherboard (the first Jasper Arcades only had 256mb). This is the ONLY difference internally between the two SKUs. The Arcade originally came with a regular Memory Card but it's cheaper to just stick that straight on the mobo.

There were a lot of stupid comments in here...

1) They haven't made the Pro sku since summer so you won't find it in stores anywhere unless it's old stock.

2) All 360s now have Jasper mobos. Arcades have had them since November '08 and Elites since last spring.

3) The only difference internally between the Elite and Arcades are the Arcades have 512mb of storage on the mobo since it doesn't come with a HDD or mem card. They are both just as reliable.

This question has been in the back of my mind the entire time ive been an 360 owner and more recently when HD DVD lost the format war .

How is it that the 360 games are able to run in 1080 p HD when from what I understand they are all printed on Duel layer DVD's? And why can't Movies be done the same way ?

trowa85

It's two things.

1) Size. 1080p movies alone (not counting special features) are around 10-15 gigs so they can't fit on a dual layer DVD (8.55 gigs). Most 360 games are between 6 and 8 gigs so they fit.

2) Regular DVD players can't decode HD videos (even if you somehow fit one on a DL DVD) and they can't output videos in high def (not counting new ones that "upconvert" ... but I don't know much about those).

Huxley.

And GoldenEye was never even being made in the first place so it wasn't cancelled. It was just a rumour.

Call of Duty 4, WaW, and MW2. Less than 10 hours for each of those. The Veteran difficulty is just too easy for me now.

Yeah I agree, trailers give away too much of the story (locations, bosses, etc). But if I'm really hyped about a game, I won't watch the trailers or read any previews/features/anything.

[QUOTE="Darkslayer16"]

Wired should work but for wireless you have to buy an adapter. It should download the drivers automatically for the wired one.. at least mine did.

GokiLives

I find it pointless to buy the adapter for PC... I mean c'mon we could buy something more useful like the Play N Charge Kit!

The play n' charge kit only charges the controller, it doesn't transmit any of the input data or anything.

You stick a flathead screwdriver in between the halves of the shell of the component cable and twist. Now it fits alongside the HDMI cable.

I take this back. You'll need a knife to get into the plastic. I'm doing it right now and it's kind of tough.
