Call of Duty 4 has a fantastic single player campaign that is absolutely worth playing through entirely. However I don't find the multiplayer to be anything new or exciting. It feels like any other online multiplayer FPS.

Team Fortress 2 absolutely destroys CoD4 in multiplayer. It truly is the most balanced FPS I've ever played. You never feel like one class has the advantage and destroys all others. The attention to detail by Valve in this game is just remarkable. For me, TF2 is the game to go with.

Sounds like you should have just bought a single 8800 GTX.

From the latest Hardocp review of 3870 X2.

We need to look at the performance in comparison to the closest competition for this video card, a single GeForce 8800 GTX. In every game except Half Life 2: Episode 2, the GeForce 8800 GTX delivered higher framerates. Keep in mind we are simply using a stock clocked GeForce 8800 GTX, so this doesn't take into consideration a partner overclocked video card or the 8800 Ultra.

Is it too late to get a refund?

It's fun up until you hit the aliens, then it is a blah game same as every other alien shooter. When you are fighting Koreans in your supersuit it ROCKS. vfibsux
This is exactly how I felt. Early levels were fantastic with just a couple little nitpicky items. Once you hit the aliens though, I played through a level or two more, but just dropped the game out of boredom. I haven't picked it up since.

I wish they had just left out the alien aspect entirely.

I refuse to use an LCD for my gaming desktop. Native resolutions annoy me to no end.

I ended up purchasing a P1130 21" CRT monitor for $50 bucks. Perfect image quality. And it supports 1920x1440 resolution at 85Hz refresh rates. It's beautiful. And guess what, I can play my games at ANY resolution without any reduction in image quality.

Maybe this review might highlight why some people haven't found this game to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

You'll want Process Explorer from Sysinternals. It's better than Task Manager anyway.

I had a 3200+ single core...and i just upgraded to a dual core and i booted up and the second core isnt recognized...what do i do?

EDIT: i flashed the bios and in the system tab it acknowledges a dual core, but in the task manager it still only shows one cpu....what do i do?

I've already answered your question.  You will not get Windows XP to suddenly see your dual core CPU.  It would require a change to the HAL which Windows XP only supports during a repair of the OS or of course during a reinstallation of the operating system.

You have to reinstall Windows or do a repair.  The Windows HAL is something that's set at installation time and cannot be changed.
