E3 is over, and in most gamers' opinions, Microsoft won the event with the help of Square Enix announcing Final Fantasy XIII for the American gaming console. Sony, and in particular, Nintendo fans were disappointed with their respective companies showings at the big event.
Microsoft may of won the favorable opinion of many American gamers this past weekend, but how about worldwide? The biggest gaming market is in Japan. Look up the figures, sales, you name it, there's no arguing that the Land of the Rising Sun has the top gaming market. Nintendo and Sony are both based in Japan, and Tokyo Game Show is more than likely the largest gaming event in the world, an event where Microsoft has been embarrassed at every year since joining.
If you were in the shoes of Sony or Nintendo (although Nintendo traditionally does not attend TGS, Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto have both made speeches in the last few years which "stole" the show), what gaming event would you want to win? The declining E3, or the always stellar TGS? I think fans may need to take worldwide consideration before ripping Nintendo and Sony over one event in Southern California. In my opinion, I'll take winning the Super Bowl over winning a regular season game any day.
