Hot Not Hot 27th Sept 05

The West Wing - Hot!
The West Wings Low Ratings - Not Hot

Come on people it's a great show moving into what might be the final season if these low ratings continue. I know it's against 60 Minutes and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition but still...Presidential race between Santos and Vinik, Josh seems to be the central focus of the episodes and Oliver Platt was a main feature this week too...get with it people...watch this show!

My Name Is Earl - HOT!

New Jason Lee show was excelent, very very funny. Great cast, great writing and lots of great jokes

Joey - HOT!

I wasn't expecting to stick with Joey this season but this episode was really very funny and got several laugh out loud moments from me. Hoperfully it'll continue

Apprentice: Martha - Not Hot

As cute as her daughter and one of the contestamts is I really didn't get this show, the letter at the end, her catchphrase...both sucked, the task was hardly shown, 42 minutes of episode (without commercials) and it was a season premier and by the 22 minute mark the task was done and they were in the boardroom. it seems really pointless having 2 shows on their air at once.

Survivor - HOT!

Wasn't optimistic about this years survivor, odd numbered seasons have all sucked with the exception of 7 and while I'm not liking Tribe Bobby John at all I think Steph's tribe is excelent. Tasks in episode 2 were pretty sucky but hopefully it'll continue and be an enjoyable season 11.

E-Ring - NOT HOT

this sucked...it's stolen the west wings old slot but it's up against new episodes of LOST so it'll die a horrible horrible death like it deserves.

Inconceivable - NOT HOT

one of the few shows I wasn't even attempting to watch coz Ming Na sucks. Can't stand her, she dragged the life out of ER and left the show only to come back even worse a few years later...hope this show sinks fast

Surface/Threshold/Invasion - ALL HOT!!

when I watched the unaired pilots for these shows I loved threshold, liked invasion and hated surface...on re-watdching the final versions I really enjoyed them all. I think Invasion has the best chance of cancelation and Threshold did a "LOST" and followed a brilliant 2 part pilot with a sucky third episode. I really liked the lake bell submarine stuff and the bit with the diver in Surface but I didn't like the stuff with the kid and the fishtank.

Overall this season looks to be a good one, I'll try and do this each week as shows progress and follow headcases into the world of cancelation.

Last Season on....Televison

I printed off a list today of all the premier dates of prime time shows bettween now and October....theres a lot more than last year.
Last year there were countless torrent sites, carrying loads of new shows from survivor to Lost and everything else on tv....this year I'm not sure whats going to happen. the bulk of my regular torrent sites have vanished and I'm going to have to rely on usenet for most of my shows...
I've been catching up on some shows, re-watched last season of The West Wing and ER in preperation for the new seasons, I'm gonna watch the last few episodes of LOST before it starts again. I've just caught up with Charmed and I've got the last few episodes of last years cold cast to watch before the new season starts.
Of the shows starting soon I'm most looking forward to the return of West Wing and ER. Two of my favourite shows and while other say they arn't as good as they used to be, a statement i have to agree with, they are still two of the best damn shows on television. I am also, of course, looking forward to the return of Lost, Arrested Development and Survivor.
the last couple of survivors have been terrible, the only saving grace of last years show was Stephanie and she ended up in the worst tribe in survivor history and was promptly kicked off the island as soon as they could get her out...shame coz she was probably one of the three best players ever (after Rob C and Richard) and really didn't deserve to go when she did.
In ER we had a slight return to form as the show became more about the characters again and not the constant drama. Season 10 had tanks and helicopter crashes and guns in the Er...season 11 went back to basics, a girl needing a liver transplant, a doctor going above and beyond to save her patients, relationships within the ER, people being promoted to levels they couldn't handle. The one thing no one can argue is that Maura Teirney is stealing the show. She is the single best actress to have ever been on Er and I really wish she had been in the show in it's prime years back in the early 90's...of course this would mean no news radio which would suck too... i have no idea whats happening this season, I've deliberatly not read anything about it and I ca't wait to see what happens...i hope Maura stays for a while and it'll be interesting to see what happens now Carter's gone.
Thats about it from me just now. tonight we have Family Guy and War At Home premiering and Tuesday we have Bones. I've already seen the Bones pilot and it was ok but this week should be a good start in the run premiers.
Monday the 19th seems to be my busiest day with 9 shows in total that i want to watch and another 7 that I dont. thats a big night for TV premiers and people are going to be busy chosing what to watch. I'm looking forward to just legal (I loved the pilot) and How I Met Your Mom (alyson hannigan...hmmmm). Not so much Surface, I've seen the pilot for that and threshold and I think the latter was much more enjoyable.
see you soon.

what have I been watching

this week I've not been watching too much Tv. I've watched about half of season 2 of the Third Watch, I've caught up with this week's Big Brother (UK and Austalian) and, of course, the season finale of Dr who - which was excelent, I'm currently watching the new series 30 Days which is alright, not quite sure how good it is for some big movie maker to be pretending to be living below the poverty line....kind of seems a bit ridiculous and you know it must be easier to get free stuff and jobs when you have TV cameras filming people....but then what do I know. Quite a good show, will watch next week too. I still have more third watch to get through, plus I've not really watched the first episodes of this years Six Feet Under or 4400 which I'll get to eventually....bought a portable divx player so will burn a few things to dvd-r to watch when I'm away for the weekend which should be good. thats been pretty much it this week, again dont know what I'll watch next week no Dr Who any more, got family guy tomorrow so we'll see....
