Do you really think it would be profeitable for developers to go years back and add trophies to games that are no longer selling? I love COD4 but Infinity ward would lose everything they put into adding trophies to it, especially when the sequel will be coming out in 66 days, 8 hours, 41 minutes, and 10 seconds.

I believe Sony said when the PS3 came out that they designed it to be their system for 12 years.

Rent COD4 to get used to the setup and game play, it's online is excellent. If you have to choose get MW2.

True, but the game audio will activate your mic 24/7 getting you muted by other players defeating the purpose of having a headset. The voice clarity of my setup is remarkable. People say I have the best clarity they have ever heard.

Think of it as a computer when it comes to the USB. I.E. my signature

You can convert ANY video into H264 or the DIVX codec which are both free.

Remote play essentially lets you run your PS3 from your PSP. You can choose to run it from your PS3 or over the internet from anywhere. I play Final Fantasy 7 on my PS3 from my PSP. (Further in the game on my PS3)

Rent and buy movies from Playstation store.

Same with a few games.

It's darn near endless what the PS3 can do.

With games like COD4 you get two options. Directional audio (5.1) loud enough to hear someone on your sides OR a mic for communicating with your team. Try both at the same time and 1 ear is covered making your sweet surround sound mono and the volume runs your mic so everyone mutes you. I figured I'd give it a try. It was only a few bucks. A USB sound card. IT WORKED FOR THE MIC! (PS3 does NOT support usb audio)

External 5.1 USB 3D Audio Sound Card Adapter for PC Desktop Notebook Laptop
Price: $1.39
http://www.amazon.com/External-Sound-Adapter-Desktop-Notebook/dp/B000BUDHNQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1250715392&sr=8-3

USB Sound Card

I also bought:
Logitech Precision PC Gaming Headset ( 980231-0403 )
Price: $5.23
+ $4.99shipping

Refurbished

Headset

It came to $15 after tax and shipping!

Here's how to set it up.

1. Headset mic jack plugs into the mic jac on the USB sound card
2. plug the USB sound card into the PS3
3. plug the headset jack into a TV with a headphone jack or a surround sound system with a headphone jack for amplified sound
4. Go to settings in your PS3. Then Audio Device Steeings.
5. Change Input Device to "USB Headphone Set" and Output Device to "System Default Device"
(This integrates chat into your stereo headset!!!)

THAT'S IT!

Ok, there are two draw backs to this setup.
1. You need a TV with a headphone jack or a surround sound system with a headphone jack to have amplified audio. I can hear a mouse fart on the other side of a COD4 map.
2. it's wired (Which also means NO BATTERIES)

For those who do not have a surround sound system or a TV with a headphone jack you can use a female headphone to RCA adapter and a RCA piggyback cable. plug the PS3 RCA audio into the piggyback then the piggyback into the TV. Then the other side of the RCA on to the adapter. Finally the headset jack gets plugged into the adapter. The volume might not be what you would like though.

piggyback cables

A Disclaimer. I tried the piggyback setup and it worked well for me. YOU TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! This is the setup Turtle beach used on their PX1 headset and charged $79 for.

The p21 from turtle beach is one of two or three headsets that I have seen that use both chat AND game audio in the headset. It accomplishes this be having RCA "piggy back" jacks to get the audio signal and usb for the mic.

RCA Piggy back jack on right side

RCA Piggy back jack's are on the right side of this pic.

The X4 from turtle beach has 5.1 headsets that DO WORK using the optical (I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THEM PERSONALLY) for the PS3, but the chat function does NOT work. Each ear cup has 4 speakers 1 being bass. Then again who wants to spend $200 for headsets. They have mentioned new PS3 headsets coming out before the new Modern Warfare 2 release but that may only have included the p21's. Tritton also heve headsets for the PS3 but are just as or more expensive. When it comes down to it games like COD4 the audio just from your TV doesn't cut it and a sound system would have to be EXTREMELY loud for you to be able to hear foot steps and breathing like I can from my headsets.

it works. LOL It takes the same amount of time for a pc to charge it as the ps3. You can check the charge by powering up your ps3 and looking at the controller battery indicator. Remember, always fully charge batteries to prevent building a "memory". (diminished battery life)

Soon! I have been in contact with Turtle Beach and they informed me they will have a 5.1 set for the PS3 before the end of the year. I hope they get them out before the release of COD:MW2. They have had 5.1 out for the box for a while. Most sets they sell are amplified also. If you want to see a vid of someone with 5.1 look up Blame Truth on youtube. He plays the "box". They'll be around $100, and they wouldn't tell me if they were going to be wired or wireless.
