Years later, Dr. Eggman activated the Gizoid in hopes of using it to, you guessed it, take over the world. But it had taken his Chaos Emerald and he couldn’t get it to do anything, so he through it out on the beach. Sonic the Hedgehog stumbled unto it and thought it was just a piece of junk, till in clipped tones it said what it had said to Gerald, "Show me your true strength and I shall obey. I am all things and all things belong to me". Sonic showed it his power and established a "Link" with the Gizoid. Soon he realized that just about everyone wanted it and he took it to Tails’ house for him to study. Soon Tails found out just about everything that Gerald knew about the Gizoid. He also found that it would be able to talk better and become more powerful if given Chaos Emeralds. So they set out to find them and because of this Sonic named him Emerl. After many trials, they got 6 Chaos Emeralds to Emerl and Emerl became smarter, starting from talking like a small child, to speaking in a combination of everyone’s speech in an understandable manner. Since the 7th Emerald was with Shadow, he asked (Shadow asked, that is) Sonic if he could take Emerl for a bit. Sonic reluctantly agreed and Shadow took him to Eggman’s deserted base. They had a very thought through conversation about machines and hearts and purposes, when Rouge showed up with information on how to give Emerl free-will. They had to say the code-words when Emerl had absorbed all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Shadow sacrificed his Emerald to Emerl and commanded him to "Bring hope to humanity!". Emerl got his free-will and everyone thought it was done with, that they had met a new friend for life. But noooooo. That stupid Eggman had to go and ruin it all! Bloody stupid Eggman!! He lured Emerl to him by creating a "Final-Egg-Blaster" on the Death Egg. Sonic and co. agreed that it would be fitting for Emerl to go stop him. So Emerl went up to the Death Egg, but then Eggman sprang his trap! He fired the Egg-Blaster and as it was much more power then Sonic’s link power, Emerl linked with him. But Eggman didn’t count on one thing: that the Final-Egg-Blaster would be too much for Emerl. Emerl went out of control and prepared to fire the Blaster at Earth. Tails hypothesized that if Sonic were to go up there and beat Emerl, then it would overload and Emerl would stop the firing sequence. But there was a chance that Emerl wouldn’t be able to take it and would die. Sonic had no choice, so he beat Emerl and for a bit Emerl regained his emotions and thought. Stupid, stupid Eggman!!! You’d have to have seen it to know how sad this cut-scene was. For any Full Metal Alchemist fans, remember when Hughes died and his daughter was at the funeral? It was as sad as that! Emerl had just gained a life, and then he goes and dies!! All cause off Eggman! *sniff, sniffle* so sad... anyway, that’s his story and I hope you liked it. For you entertainment, here are Gerald’s journal entries that you can unlock in the game.

-Entry #1 "I have uncovered a most interesting specimen from the warehouse. I be- lieve it is some sort of puppet or robot made by ancient people. At first, I didn't think anything of it, but when I was experimenting on a 'Chaos Emerald' it began to move. This suggests the possibility that even the ancient civilizations could harness the power of the 'Chaos Emeralds'. When I was researching various papyrus related to the power of the 'Chaos Emeralds' and this robot, I discovered that there was a possibility that this robot was something incredible. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but this robot may be the cause of the Fourth Great Civilization. I'm not sure I believe it just yet, though."

-Entry #2 "I am no longer able to ignore the possibility that this robot did in fact destroy the Fourth Great Civilization. I have discovered a stone tablet that explains as much. According to the tablet, 'When the figure falls from the heavens, and the Stone of the Gods is joined, all that exists will become one again.' Though it is difficult to believe, this robot has been watching my movements, and mimicking all that I do. I was amazed by my scans of this being. Surprisingly, reams and reams of data scrolled and causes my most powerful computer to crash. More intriguing was that the data was all about melee combat and weapons of that age. Eventually, if this being is ever restored to it's former state, it will put all that data to use, and recreate all the weaponry and combat abilities that it once had... And that's not all. If my guesses are correct, it will also have the ability to absorb modern weaponry as well. What have I done? I have un- covered a horrible weapon."

-Entry #3 "I now understand why this being was named 'Gizoid'. In the ancient tongue, it meant 'everything'. According to the stone tablet, if the Gizoid establishes a 'link' with someone, the Gizoid will swear loyalty to that per- son. Perhaps it still lacks 'Chaos Emerald' energy, but it has still been say- ing the word 'Link' to me in broken tones. It went on to explain, 'Show me your true strength and I shall obey. I am all things, and all shall belong to me.' So as it suggested, I brought before it my collection of model guns, and freed them all. Then, suddenly, it said, 'I shall follow your every command, and never leave your side.' And since then, it refuses to listen to anyone but me. While it still remains under my control, at least it won't be used for evil. However, if someone with evil intentions ever forms a 'Link' with the Gizoid. I don't even want to think about what will happen. I must research how one can reestablish a 'Link' with the Gizoid."

-Entry #4 "The upper echelon is going crazy. Perhaps they aim to freeze Project 'Shadow'. Soon the ultimate life form, 'Shadow' will be completed... The application to my granddaughter is also innocent. I cannot just let them stop my study at this point. Because I am the only on who can save my granddaughter's life."

-Entry #5 "The higher ups are threatening to shut down this research facility. I had no choice but to hand them the Gizoid to buy more time for my research. I tried to be careful and commanded it to never absorb any dangerous technologies. However, I have heard that other researchers have been making the Gizoid absorb weapons. Apparently, the way to cause the Gizoid to form a new 'Link' is to show it power that surpasses any of it's former master. While this poses immense danger, I cannot risk losing Maria."

-Entry #6 "My worst fears have come true. The Gizoid has absorbed enough weaponry and technology that it has started to go out of control. The resulting rampage resulted in the destruction of most of the 'Ark.' ...I have deciphered the rest of the stone tablet. It says, 'When the Gizoid had all that could, it became a god of wrath, and all was destroyed.' The researchers somehow managed to subdue the Gizoid and sealed it away. Luckily, it only had one 'Chaos Emerald' installed. If it were to have all 7 Emeralds installed, it might destroy the whole planet. The Gizoid is too much of a liability. I tried destroying it's core, but nothing I did worked. I under- stand too little of the technology that built him. My best hope is to try and reprogram it's AI into a free-willed, emotions-based AI..."

-Entry #7 "I have heard there was an accident at the research facility... ... ... Everything...Everything is gone. My own Maria's name was among the list of casualties. My beloved granddaughter...They tell me her parting words were 'Bring hope to humanity.' I have decided that the keyword to activate the Gizoid's free-willed emotions-based AI program will be those very words. 'Bring hope to all humanity.' My poor, poor Maria..."

-Entry #8 "A heritage of the past I dug out, 'Gizoid'...And the ultimate life form I created with my own hands, Shadow... I have equipped both with a 'heart.' If all powers are not what is to be obtained for oneself, but what is to be born from hearts that yearn for someone, I believe all conflicts should cease to exist. Please...If there is anyone listening to my prayers... bring hope to humanity."

Sonic stepped outside of Tails' house and stretched his tired muscles. He and Tails had been working all night on some modifications to the X-Tornado. Sonic found this particularly tiresome due in part to the fact that he knew next to nothing about Tails' machines. Sonic smiled a bit. At least he'd been more help then Knuckles had. Tails asked him to do some heavy lifting, but more often then not, he'd get angry when he couldn’t get a device to do what he wanted, and probably did more damage then help. Tails considered asking Amy for help, but Sonic was quick to talk him out of this idea. They worked late into the night, but inedibedly they all fell asleep finally. Sonic had just woken up and was getting some fresh air. The temperature was warm and a little balmy, but pleasant. He turned to go inside when a chill wind swept past him. It made him cold inside and out. He shivered and his teeth chattered. But then it was over as quickly as it came. He was instantly warm again. "Weird..." Sonic said softly. He stood on the porch for a few minutes longer, then stepped inside to make some breakfast before the others woke up. After a while, the mysterious wind all but left his mind.…………

Meanwhile, in a remote island chain, the waves crash against the broken and battered body of the ultimate life form. Slowly regaining consciousness Shadow opens his eyes to a crystal clear blue sky and intense bright light. Shielding his eyes with his hand he stands up, stumbles but regains his balance before falling. "Where am I?" thought Shadow

Back to Tails' house where sonic had just had breakfast the strange chill came again, this time more alert Sonic jumped up and ran outside Tails curiously followed and said "What was that all about" Sonic answered "This morning I felt this weird chill and again just now". Their curiosity overwhelming them they searched for the source of the strange chill. Meanwhile Shadow was exploring the island he had moments ago woke up on, He soon found a small city and went to investigate. Later that day Sonic and Tails had still not found the source of the strange chill after searching the whole city they went back to Tails' house for dinner, In the middle of dinner Sonic and Tails were having a peaceful conversation when someone knocked on the door when Tails answered it he found Knuckles with a injured arm. Back on the island Shadow had found a lady who gave him a dinner and explained where he was she told him that her name was Alice and that he was on a island in the middle of the sea the Islanders had not had contact with the mainland for a few years, Alice offered Shadow a room for the night and he generously accepted. At Tails' house they were patching Knuckles up, Knuckles explained that Dr. Eggman had stole a Chaos Emerald and Knuckles was chasing after him he had been shot by a rocket from Eggman's ship and he soon after came to Tails' house looking for help.

"Alice" Shadow asked that night, "I need to get back to the main-land. Isn’t there any way to travel from here?" Alice looked forlornly at the far off horizon. "I wish there was, Shadow. But like I said, we've been cut off for centuries. We've no more way to get to the mainland then we would the moon." Shadow chuckled "I'll tell you a story sometime, Alice. But, haven’t your people tried to make journeys to the mainland? Surely you can't have just sat here these centuries?". Alice looked grimly at Shadow, "Of course we've tried. Many times, But each time, the ships never returned" She looked at the far off horizon again "My husband was on the last ship to set out. I've never heard from him again". "Oh", Shadow said, slightly uncomfortable, "Well... you'll see him again. I promise. Argh! If only I had my Chaos Emerald! Then I could just leave." Alice looked up at him, startled, "Chaos Emerald.... Why deary me, I know I put that somewhere... Now let me see..." Shadow jumped up "You have a Chaos Emerald!? Quick Alice show it to me!" Alice rummaged in a closet a bit then- "Ah-ha!" she exclaimed, "Here it is!" she handed it to Shadow. "This... is definitely a Chaos Emerald", Shadow said wonderingly, "But it... it's like no Emerald I've ever seen! "

Back at Tails’ house Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were preparing to go searching for Eggman. Tails was getting the X Tornado ready, Sonic was exercising, and knuckles was concentrating. When Tails finished on the X Tornado he shouted out "The scanners have located Eggman at his pyramid base" Sonic shouted "Well lets go then" and knuckles was already out the door Sonic shouted back at Tails "Meet you there" Tails hopped in the X Tornado and said "Not if I get their first". The race was on Knuckles in the lead followed closely by Sonic with Tails right behind him, by the time they arrived at Eggman’s pyramid base it was Sonic then Tails and moments later Knuckles. When they went in they were met by none other than Eggman’s security droids, The trio made short work of the droids, they raced up to the main control room and when they entered they were surprised to see a frustrated and scared looking Eggman researching hard overlooked by a curious looking Shadow, Sonic shouted "Shadow what are you doing here" he replied by telling him about Alice and The mysterious Chaos Emerald, then he looked over at Eggman and said "I didn’t know who else to go to but my old pal Eggman" Eggman snorted and went back to his work, Knuckles then shouted "Oh so that was the Chaos Emerald I was chasing you for, well you didn’t have to shoot me down" Eggman replied swiftly by saying "Well I wouldn’t of if I didn’t think you were going to rip me and my ship apart". The results from the test revealed that this Chaos Emerald had greater powers than the others.
