Matrix Online a bust

I recently read the review for the Matrix Online and I am in complete agreement with Gamespot. I was a beta-tester for the game and I also got to play quite a bit once it was released. The problems with this game are many and they completely overshadow anything that might be good about the game. Let's start with the good things first.

I love the slap emote. I was able to keep myself occupied for 5 minutes with the slap emote. Its awesome and everyone should try it if they've waisted their money on this game.

The market system is really good. I love the fact that I can tap into it and buy anything from anybody and there are always varying prices for the same item, so you can very often get a really good bargain for certain items of your fancy.

Other than that everything else is on the downside...

The game world is soporifically boring and repetitious. Yes, I know there are different areas with minutely different looks, but in a whole its one big boring city that you better get used to, cause you'll be there every month for roughly 15 bucks at a time. There is nothing but copies of pedestrians, cars, and buildings that all look relatively the same. If not for the pop-up of each districts name and a map, I would never know if had crossed districts. The insides of the buildings are just as similar. Despite popular belief, I really think that this game should have had Xion and the Machine City in it. It could have helped to a great extent in making this game a good one.

The fighting system, though different than most RPG's, doesn't seem to fit into an online RPG. It should more likely be made for a platform RPG that the Nintendo Gamecube puts out. This system causes for less control than other MMORPG's and thus feels static and restrictive. Yes, you get several moves, but they are all for the same thing...to kill your opponent. This also can limit your strategy, not as far as the set of moves you'd like to use, but how you plan to kill, evade or run from the enemy.

The missions are really bad. I can understand if you have several different and creative dungeons, a beautiful, diverse world and some diverse monsters scattered about the lands with special item drops, so that it is worth the while, but The Matrix Online has none of this, so the missions seem that much worse. Completely repetitive and dull.

Joining sides means next to nothing and has little to no effect on anything. That is a big problem and if they plan to implement a story driven by the players, then they should have just made this game a pen and paper hobby shop board game. The story, though interesting, can never make up for the lack of depth throughout the game's world. I have an imagination, but not that much imagination.

The bugs will probably be fixed in time, so I wont even mention them. But I will say they are numerous and awful.

One more nitpick and Im done...I hate the way characters jump in the Matrix...its stupid and can get in the way of the game.

Thats all I have for this game and really think its all you need to turn you away from it. This game should have never been made the way it was. It seems like a real rush job, kind of like Pirates of the Carribean. Leave it to a major corporate label to screw the pooch. You guys are going to lose a ton of money on this project and you have no one to blame but yourselves.
