Hey guys!
It's me :) Aren't you delighted to hear that? :) And this time, it's normal me. Not blogging-about-personal-crap me. Yeah there's some more complications at the moment but I'm so elated right now, I'm leaving them out.
Sorry I haven't gotten back to some comments, or sprawled with paragraphs on your blogs if I was absent from usual ones, this week has been slightly busy -- even though I haven't been to school in two days! Third if I take tomorrow into account.
Anyway, remember I said to you guys that these two authors from LA really liked the fan-ficiton pictures I did for their book Beautiful Creatures? And that they'd send some signed stuff? Well I was one to receive copies in the post the other day and was so happy :) I got a big old letter, addressed to me, which never happens!
Inviting, eh?
So I voluntarily ripped it apart. And found my two pictures inside, printed on photographic paper with their autographs! And also a sticker, and a dog-tag thingy. Awesome swag. Yeah, I believe swag is the word used for book merch!
It says "Lena (character in the book) loves Shane :)" and signed in the middle! A clearer picture...
And this which says, "Shane, you rock."And signed too.

So that was the excitment with those two authors, which I urge you to read because they are so nice and connected with their fans! And also, IT'S AN AWESOME BOOK. Anf four more to come out, and MOVIE OPTIONS. I heard it was the new Harry Potter. And believe me, I hate when people say that but for this saga, I can expect a lot. Not saying it's superior than Harry but really, it's a look at romance from a GUYS point of view, and has the best southern-supernatural mix to it. I can really identify with the main character, what with living in a small town where everyone knows everyone's business, and that feeling of being trapped and wanting to spread your wings and move on.
And while I'm on the bookish tense, I'll tell you how else my week was fun and bookworm like. I'm such a nerd, but I couldnt care LESS! :) No reason why I shouldn't bask in it now ...
So I entered a competition with Easons (Irish bookstore) to win tickets to an author event with Sarah Rees Brennan (the author I saw last summer, and love her books) and Patrick Ness, who I was familair with his books but never read them.
Anyway I wont two tickets, and set off by myself into town to collect them and attend the signing. I felt I had to go in on my own, needing my own space for a change. On a personal level, I'm sick of all the conflict going on in my life which is inevitably dragging me in, plunging me into something, which I quite frankly dont have the small-minded brain to get involved in, or want to like some people. Anway main line, I needed some Shane time. And that's what I got. Went to Starbucks for two hours, read a book, wrote some of my own book and relaxed.
I made my way to the event, took a seat, and recognised some people from twitter, which was fun. Anyway, I listened to these two hilariously funny writers. Asked some questions, and learned how to be myself with Patrick Ness's wonderful advice. He's such an inspiration, and although I have never read his CHAOS WALKING TRILOGY, after listening and laughing with him for 40 minutes, make me believe how amazingly structured, and well-thought out he was and his writer self was. He was encouraging and very nice. I hadn't much money, and was really annoyed to find out I couldn't purchase his book and get it signed. But I did get the second book signed by Sarah, and she recognised me from last time! She's such a nice woman, hilarious and witty and ever-so thankful to her readers. I had a really great time on my own, thought to myself, and enjoyed the day. I got a goodbag packed with a book or two, two t-shirts, and some stickers and bookmarks and so on.
So yeah, that was how wonderful that went. I'll be sure next time to buy Patrick Ness's books and not just Sarah's, which I cant wait to read!
I didn't go to school on Wednesday because it was half day and I stayed at home and studied. Effectively, I might add ;). Honestly learn more at home these days, since we're not doing much in school and I tend to get distracted and talk too much in cla$$ which gets me into trouble and that's never good! So being at home is kinda easier. Obviously today, I had the event so I didn't go in. But it was Sports Day in school, so there wasn't hassle in not going in. And tomorrow is a normal day but after tonights events, I'm tired AND ... AND ... SUPERNATURAL is on tonight in the US, so I can get it in the morning online. And maybe I might just study some, and watch the finale. Yeah, hopefully I can swoon at my mother and coax her into it.
I'm pretty sure this episode WILL kill me.
We'll just have to wait and see, I'll be back to blog about it for sure!
Talk to you guys soon,
Have a good weekend and week following!
Shane.
