Hate on modern Cartoon Network all you want, I really don't care, but Scooby Doo? Seriously? No. Scooby Doo was never good. Never has been, never will be. Seriously, shut up. Scooby Doo sucks.

Hey look, Scoob! Scooby Snacks/tons of food! Let's rehash this joke for the millionth time while we search aimlessly around the house until the inevitable chase scene with awkward music and we dress up as maids or chefs to distract the monster, and then lure it into a trap and find out that it was the janitor the whole time!

Poverty, lack of reproductive freedom, and abstinence-only sex education.

You telling me that sex ed that didn't focus on abstaining from sex would stop a 16 year old from doing it...

Read the following:

http://www.freakonomics.com/2008/09/03/the-numbers-on-teen-pregnancy/

"These international differences are due to low contraceptive use in the U.S.; most of the recent decline in teen pregnancy in the U.S. is due to more consistent use of birth control,"

I think poverty is the big issue, as well as family break-down (mainly the absence of the girl's father). As for abstinence-only, I think the pregnancy rates have actually declined in the past decade or so which is when abstinence-ed became more common (especially with more federal funding under the Bush Administration).

Not as much in states with abstinence-only policyhttp://www.newjerseynewsroom.com/healthquest/abstinence-only-education-not-an-impact-to-record-low-teen-pregnancy-rates

In the same way that I'm scared that a time-travelling unicorn will kick me in the balls.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Genetic? Scientists did state they can't find a gay gene which kind of makes sense since specific families don't seem to pass down the genes. Now chemical imbalances in the brain might have something to do with it....which would eliminate the choice aspect. However, once you go into the environmental aspect...you start learning more toward choice. Because as we know someone with specific environmental influences can change. Are you sure you want to go that route?LJS9502_basic

Twin studies have more or less ruled out that it is purely genetic, environmental does not always mean choice.

Yet science has stated they can't find a gay gene....

"This study puts cold water on any concerns that we are looking for a single gay gene' or a single environmental variable which could be used to 'select out' homosexuality - the factors which influence sexual orientation are complex."

"What can be asserted without evidence an also be dismissed without evidence" - Christopher Hitchens

As long as none of them have evidence, as far as I'm concerned none of them are right.

A 7-year-old child in Africa dies tomorrow. He lived a life of starvation and ignorance, knowing nothing but his own hunger. He doesn't speak English and he lives in a very rough part of the country, so no misssionaries will ever reach him, certainly not by tomorrow. Where does he go tomorrow? What were the grand sins he committed against God, other than trying to live and trying to survive? Would any one wish to read me some scripture about where he's going to go tomorrow after he dies?

This isn't an argument that God doesn't exist but it is a good argument that prayer does nothing.

People can pray to get an iPhone for Christmas and then get one, thank God and enjoy their iPhone, while others who actually want the world to be a better place can pray for God to take away the disease and starvation in Africa and not a damn thing will happen. If there is a God who exists, and he does grant prayers, then clearly he needs to reassess his priorities.

Whenever you pray for something that comes true, it can be explained rationally. You can never pray for someone who lost a limb to suddenly regenerate that limb and expect it to happen, because it is not physically possible. It always seems like when you pray for a cancer patient to get better, and they do, a doctor was involved somewhere in there.
