@RAD_RADIO @HoSCloud If Nintendo doesn't innovate no-one will. The gamepad may have been a swing and a miss and maybe they should focus on innovating software rather than hardware but they're far from out.
@Kyrylo @cheriban @adamh1981 @Artwark I never said Nintendo's games weren't mostly family friendly, they are, but they do have more mature games. I'd hardly say they're high class snobs but they do need more mature games, they've never had a problem being able to make those. As for sony ripping them off, I meant in terms of hardware, from the motion controls to the gamepad.
@adamh1981 @cheriban @Artwark @Kyrylo People always think Nintendo's all family friendly games and they have a reputation for that but they aren't. They have more mature games too, they just need better marketing. Honestly I think the Wii U's biggest problem was lack of marketing, I don't think I saw a single advert for it over here. At the end of the day most people don't know or understand specs, it'll come mostly down to games and hype. Nintendo's games will keep them afloat but their lack of marketing is the biggest problem here.
@adamh1981 @cheriban Exactly. Nintendo has the family friendly market down but unfortunately parents rarely know or care what their kids are doing these days and they're all playing games like call of duty. If Nintendo had the games the other 2 have + their exclusives they'd be a force to be reckoned with and I think they know that now. I've heard rumours of a new Meteroids game coming though.
@adamh1981 @cheriban @Artwark @Kyrylo You mock but Sony's ripped off everything from the motion controller to the gamepad. You make the mistake of assuming everyone has the same taste in games as you. They don't.
@adamh1981 Not everyone wants to play uber serious games like that. I'd pick Zelda any day. Nintendo know where they went wrong and they'll bounce back from it. They have enough money in the bank to make many more fail consoles if they wanted. Frankly if Nintendo came out with a powerful console with a line up of both friendlier and more serious games they'd probably make a comeback.
Nintendo shouldn't stop making game consoles. They'll salvage the Wii U but they should really join the spec wars. Imagine a Nintendo console with good 3rd party support + Nintendo exclusives. Could work? As for innovating, they should certainly focus more on innovating via software rather than hardware, stuff like gamepads would make good add-ons but shouldn't be the selling point of the console. They could also support game reviews, people with game channels, independent game makers... anything.... There's a lot Nintendo can and probably will do. They've pretty much nailed the family friendly games and they could easily move into the mor mature market...
Don't count them out so quickly.
Honestly between the 3 of them if I could afford a console (and a TV) I'd pick the Wii u, I like their games better.
