A few days ago, the gamefaqs forums went offline for a while. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I felt at a loose end and thought to myself "I wonder if I can log into Gamespot?" So I tried, succeeded and here I am! That's why my account is 5 years old, but only at level 3 at the time of writing this.
I often toyed with the idea of starting a blog, but really, who wants to read my delusional rantings and excrutiating day-to-day minutiae? So I never went to the effort of registering on a blog site, but at Gamespot you get one anyway, so why not take advantage?
If I say that I've been gaming since the early/mid 1970s you'll get a rough idea of my age, but if I told you I was female, would that surprise you? But who cares? Age, gender, colour, whatever - it's irrelevant. I'm a human being and a citizen of the world, so let us never speak of this again.
I live in the UK (hence the quaint spelling) where we tend to get a bum deal gaming-wise. I could go on and on about the awesome R.P.Gs that never saw the light of day here and the fact that I would have had to wait ONE WHOLE YEAR for the PS2 release of Rock Band if I hadn't imported it but I won't. We seem to pay the same numerical amount for games - so while the US enjoys a $39.99 retail price for a game, we pay 39.99 GBP - roughly $60.00. Fair? I think not.
I have too many consoles and too many games but I cannot bear to part with any of them - even the very bad games take pride of place on my shelves next to the very good ones. When it comes to games from the pre - PS2/GC era I'll buy pretty much anything I see if the price is right - older games are quite scarce in my town. I won't bore you with the details of all the consoles I own, except to mention a few machines that I'm quite proud of owning - I have a PS2 TEST console and a PS2 debug station, which in laymans' terms means I can enjoy playing any region PS2 and PS1 game without any pesky modding. My most prized possession is my Japanese Net Yaroze console - now all I need to do is learn C programming and Japanese and I'll be making my own games in no time! :?
I've been mostly playing PS2 and Wii games lately. I'm currently giving myself Repetitive Strain Injury on DJ Hero on the Wii and playing the odd round of golf on Mr Golf for the PS2 with the intention of writing a review for it. I'm also in the middle of a project to submit some game data for old ZX Spectrum and Amiga games to gamefaqs, but I'm too lazy at the moment and am instead messing around on here. I recently bought Stuart Little 3: Big Photo Adventure (don't laugh! It got some pretty good reviews!) which I'm looking forward to playing next week during my long anticipated (and much deserved I might add) holiday.
Well, that about wraps it up for now. Will I ever write another blog entry? Maybe. But if I do, I'll try to make it interesting and relevant and not about what I had for lunch. By the way I haven't had any lunch today :(
