Hey- I hope this is the right forum for my question:

Just got Crysis 2 for the PC- updated fully to 1.9, and I'm running all the settings on the lowest setting, which is "High".

No matter what- the game crashes to desktop at every checkpoint.

I would like to know: Has ANYONE found a fix for this yet? I'd hate to have wasted money on what looks like so much fun!

My specs:

  • Windows XP 32bit
  • EVGA 780i SLI
  • EVGA Nvidia 8800 GT (factory clocked, didn't touch the settings)
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3ghz) (did NOT overclock)
  • 4ghz OCZ ram (which I've tested and checks out fine.)

According to my tests, and what I've read from others online, it truly is a question of the game not working, not my rig.

Any help would be GRATEFULLY appreciated! And if you've got this problem too, I feel your pain...

[QUOTE="f575gtc"]cmon guys why would they actually use pc has a primary gaming system? everyone knows PCs arent for games, they are for work and other things, but not games....................Darren50000

Err, PCs are

1) More powerfull which opens the door for unique games. eg Crysis

2) Mod friendly to keep the replay value up. eg UT2004

3) More user base so multiplayer is a boost. Eg, any game.

So yea, does you 360 have quad core and Geforce series 8 DX10 compatible graphics card?

BUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Not to mention- it's true. Consoles ARE computers- but dedicated computers to graphics. Desktops, laptops- they're more variable, and also much, much more customizable. But I'm not going to get into this battle- I'll simply say this. All games are developed on computers.

That would be really nice- but allow me this: Where did you hear the information? It might help us answer you a bit if you showed us your source.

Now- it would be really nice for me to stop the messege here and avoid immediately flaming EA. Not that I don't think that EA does a few things right- Battlefield 2, for instance. But, (and I'm not flaming... really...) It's just that, well, I mean- you guys know it yourselves You all play EA's games, you see all the in-game ads. Need For Speed 2 is a perfect example. When it becomes an issue of getting every last dollar, your focus shifts away from providing an experience that people would never forget. We want good GAMES, damnit! But that's just me. I hope that Bad Company does come to the PC. If it doesn't, then it would just be ANOTHER example of selling out to the highest bidder. (In this case, Micro$oft.) Meh, I've got too much time on my hands.

Wow- I'm behind times. I'm running a five year old 2.4ghz P4, a two year old 6800GT OC, and two one year old KVR400x64 512 RAM sticks. Otherwise, my DVD burner is pretty new, and my cd burner is about a year old. Oh, and the mobo is also five, being an ASUS P4S800. It works, but now I really, really wanna upgrade. My problem is that I'm going to be shifting over from AGP to PCI-Express, and that requires new video card, mobo, proc, and ram. Basically, an entirely new computer. And I haven't even entered college yet! I really wanna make my new system future proof, so I think that when the prices come down for PCI-E, what I"ll do is purchase the new mobo, proc, (maybe 3.2ghz?) and ram, (maybe about two gigs?) and get an Nvidia SLI setup going. That oughta last me a long time. :)

maybe they should have stolen the parts of those engines that would actually make the game more stable. JK. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't D3 coded in OpenGl and HL2 in DirectX, making it seemingly impossible to steal anything significant from both and use them in one or the other. If it's just a few textures I doubt there will be hell to pay. How could they possibly prove it? HL2 has every friggin texture imaginable and they are both based in Russia. The similarities are most likely a coincidence, not some conspiracy (like how EA payed GamePro to give SupCom a low score right /sarcasm)Phabiuo3

ROFL.  Both based in Russia?  HA!  Chernobyl is located in Ukraine, not Russia.  And It's quite possible that, while Cryillic  writing is seen on the signs n' stuff in City 17- for some reason, I feel like it could have a Polish touch as well.  Either way, I wouldn't really be bothered over a few things like textures, and I seriously doubt that Valve would care much.  They're one of the best developers out there, and they know it.

Usually- I just think of a game where you can do nearly ANYTHING in it.  Interact with anything- make it a world that parallels our own, but you could like, do nearly anything without consequence to your actions.  It's a good thought though- I wish that Gamespot would ask this question, like- more of a gamer-informed community blog that developers could check out and reference more often.
