MAGfest

Mag and I are headed to Alexandria, VA to to the annual MAGfest on New Year's weekend. They're having a James Bond themed New Year's pary! How cool is that?!! Here's to a weekend full of games, music, and fun...shaken, not stirred!

Favorite Things To Do This Weekend

I have a fun weekend planned for myself. Here are the activities:

  • beach volleyball
  • video games
  • drink homemade, gourmet iced-tea
  • hang out at Artscape in Baltimore, MD for music, food, drink, and fun with friends

Have some fun this weekend, everyone!

I got my first MOD!

Holy Cannoli! I just got "Modded"! That's my first Mod! I guess I know how you rebel regulars feel! Lesson learned: Don't reply/comment to the "Ask the Mod" page. I won't do that again.

E3 Top Ten Healthy Snack List

The following is a list of healthy snacks (in no particular order) to keep your energy levels up while you gawk at the booth babes at E3 (Remember to keep your mouth closed). Costco is an excellent place to find most of these snacks, in large quantities, at very affordable prices.

1. Bawls! Bawls! Bawls! (Get caffeinated!)

2. Whey protein shakes (any quality brand)

3. dried fruit

4. dried nuts (3 and 4 can be found together in a variety of trail and fruit/nut mixes)

5. fresh fruit

6. yogurt/yogurt shakes

7. Fiber One granola bars (very moist and tasty)

8. fiber/protein bars (Lara Bars are a great choice; many other brands/varieties; just get some with protein and fiber)

9. Kirkland Signaure/Jelly Belly fruit snacks (made with real fruit juice and vitamin C)

10. Stretch Island Fruit Co. Fruit Leather (100% fruit, nothing else)

Yum! "Getcha some!"

Memorial Day Reflections On Paradoxes

The smallest of creation can become our largest damnation. Consider the atom vs. the atomic bomb.

This Memorial Day, fireworks explode above ground, while North Korea's fireworks explode below ground.

Flip That Coin

I can tell you a thing or two about love. True love is dualistic, meaning it is comprised of two opposing forces/sides. Love can be the most wonderful feeling/emotion you'll ever experience, yet at the same time, be the worst, gut-wrenching, crippling emotion you'll ever feel as well. You can have feelings of love and hate for the same person, at the same time. Like I said, dualistic; two sides to the coin of love. Each day you never really know on which side the coin will land when it's flipped.

But I can tell you this, no matter how significant the dark side of love is, the good side is so wonderful, it's worth the risk. It is truly the best thing we can experience while being alive. Flip that damn coin. And the saying, "It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all" is absolutely and profoundly true. Love is worth it. To not bask in love's shine is the single most missed opportunity that could happen to any of us. Flip that coin.

So I say to you, if you are in true love, congratulations. Enjoy it. Relish it. Cherish each day of its divine flavor. Do not let its rotten side scare you away from its fruit. Savor the moment. And if by chance it ends, take time to heal, to learn from it, to instrospect, and eventually, you will move on. And you will want to taste it again, because it really is that delicious.

And if it lasts forever, than I say to you...bravo, you have found the one, true vocation of our existence.

Flip that coin.

Gamespot Suspension

I think my Gamespot privileges were suspended for a few days, early this week. I have no official confirmation, email notification, etc. of such. But I saw this comment in my profile for a few days, when I couldn't log on as my infamous-self.

Does anyone have any insight on how the Gamespot suspension works? Do they notify you? Is there a general email to contact when this happens? How does this happen? Does it only take one "gaynal" shmuck to file a bogus complaint to have my "Gamespot freedom of speech" revoked?

At a loss for words,

Wolverine Cid.

Cutting Grass

I hate cutting my grass. It takes me approximately 3 hours every two weeks to do all the cutting, trimming, etc. for my yard. That's 6 extra hours per month that could be spent playing video games! So what's the solution? Here's a cost/benefit analysis of a few options.

I could hire someone to do it. Yes, and if the cost to pay them is worth my time and opportunity cost of not playing video games, then it would be a fiscally sound move.

What else?

I could spray weed killer and basically kill all my grass. Then I wouldn't have to cut it. This solution would be much cheaper than the prior. The extra money saved could be invested in more video games. The disadvantages would be the unsightly brown dirt-yard I'd have. Maybe neighbors would complain, but since there is no homeowners' association in my neighborhood, who cares? Hey, another benefit of this option: when it rains, I'd have a big muddy yard, which is an ideal locale for nude, female mud wrestling! Now we're talkin'! I'd just have to get my hands on some sexy women who'd want to do that sort of thing. In fact, if I charged admission, I could potentially turn a profit on this event. So this option could actually earn money, not cost me!

Anything else?

I could get my wife to cut the grass, while I stayed inside and played video games. Not!!!! Who am I kidding? Yeah, and I'm like Wolverine or something.

If anyone reads this, do you have another option, or like one of the ones listed above?

Oh, and I forgot to mention, if I choose option 2 (you know, sexy, nude, female mud wrestlin' while I"m playing video games), my wife may very well get so upset she'd give me the ol' "nut butter" kick, as she leaves my a$$! Whether that's a cost or a benefit, I'll leave that as a mystery.

Happy grass cutting to you,

Wolverine Cid.
