Another Day in the Life of Fred Flinstone

Cha-ching. My DualShock 3 came in the mail last night from Play-Asia and boy is it nifty. After being a strict 360 gamer you get to love the feeling of the vibrations in your hands, it sucks you more into the "gaming experience" it almost makes it feel as if your "connecting" with something. Whether it's punching a wall or shooting a bullet so without it, I felt pretty lonely. But alas, all that has changed and now my DS3 rumbles like theres no tomorrow it's just unfortunate that not all PS3 games support the rumble feature, but I guess I'll just have to cope with it.. On a side note Super Smash Brawl, one of the only Wii games I was looking for seems to be getting pushed back again.. this time until March, Nintendo is probably best known for it's constant set backs, or missing their window since they proved that with Legend of Zelda: TP, but this game would've had me playing my Wii next month, the constant push backs are simply just heartbreaking, ah well. Addictions are fun.

The Secret Bathroom Code:

Like all of my recent posts this one has yet again nothing to do with Videogames but instead about the "Unspoken Men's Bathroom Code". Being a guy at work having to share a 2 Urinal 3 Stall Bathroom with probably over 50 other guys in my Department it can be a real pain, but it manages to work.. sometimes. There are codes to the Bathroom when you a dude, Women use Stalls so they have nothing to worry about except sitting on the Toilet, but you can always just "hover". These "codes" are never discussed out loud they are just common sense, but sometimes these codes are broken and the consequences dreadful. You see, the rule/code goes that if your occupying a urinal the next person to come in is supposed to use every other one for the sake of nothing being so close to someone else, and if no open urinals then a stall, unless NECESSARY you never stand next to a dude, it's just creepy.. However today I was violated, yes yes I was. The stalls were open and ready for use except someone felt necessary to stand next to me, I cried zipped up and left. On the side note Sony's new 27" OLED looks wonderful it was introduced @ CES and boy.. do I wish I could cough up $10,000. Be safe, be careful, Bathrooms aren't fun.

Court and Videogames.

Why aren't these things a couple? I mean come on Court is the most fun thing to watch on TV and well Video Games they are the most interactive things on TV.. I can see it now a Wii Mini Game compilation where you are just an innocent citizen forced to wait in lengthy court process just to get denied. You can be a vigilante? And rock out some vigilante justice with your Judge Baton.. Hell man they can even make a WiiMote plug in, I smell something green. You know what it is? It's me getting rich and famous.. Why all the Court talk? Aside from it being one of the most fascinating things to do, I happened to spend 6 hours at it today. But back to the basics KUF flopped, how sad? Pretty sad one of the early 08 games I was looking forward too, bah oh well back to Resistance.

The Weekend and Demos

Demos, demos, and some more demos. At times they can be the coolest announcements for months but when they finally hit the shelves or well are up for digital downloading they are usually upsetting. Demo's themselves even state that they don't replicate the final product but that's not true, most of the time anyway. I mean honestly how many Dev teams release a demo a week or two before it's released at your local GameStop just for your personal feedback, aside from MMO's no one does it. MMO has the nifty beta testing where everyone big or small can give a whack at the game and then leave their 2 cents but I mean for a game that'll be around for years to come it's mandatory. Demos are always usually the game in it's final stages, I mean how far off can it be if it's going to hit store shelves in about a week? So I don't get why they put these warnings on them, it's kindof like they want us to believe that all the things we dislike or like about a game will change drastically because I simply didn't like the demo.

Myself I used to not believe that demos should dictate whether or not you should buy a game, but all the recent demos have been terrible. I was thinking of purchasing Folklore for I am jonesing for an RPG but after I played the demo.. I let it get the best of me and persuade me from buying the game. Chances are that if demos are bad, so is the final product and that's a shame. Demo's used to rock they used to toss you into the exciting part of the game to let you look forward to it, to some sort of new "conquest" but now they fail to deliver even the slightest sense of enjoyment. Maybe it's better of that way after all I've owned my PS3 since Christmas and I've already completed all the games I bought, 180 dollars spent for a week of gaming goodness. But that's a whole other story. You kids be safe now, ya' hear.

And this is my story..

My first blog post, so I figured I'd have a short story about me and this generation of gaming, if it's long then I apologize, don't read. Be easy, and be safe. Pete.

The year was 2006 and the only thought I had at the time was "Man, I can't wait to get my Wii" this continued for the next 11 months. Along with these thoughts came the gloating about how the Wii is by far the superior console and that game play is better then pretty visuals. As November neared the excitement and arousal increased finally only 19 days away til I'm completely blown away by Nintendo's latest and greatest. The day finally arrived I picked up my Wii, CoD3 and Zelda: TP only to return back to my friends house to spend hours playing Wii Sports.

At the time it was the best thing since slice bread, I couldn't wait to arrive home just to play Zelda, man was I jonesin for a good game and finally it was in my grasp. I played the hell out of Zelda for the first week and completed it flawlessly, it was fun. Who would've thought waving a controller side to side or aiming my sling shot could be this exciting. Later towards the end of the Month I went on a road trip to MS and when I arrived back home I immediately packed my bags and headed to Florida to spend Christmas and New Years with my Mom and Dad, to my dismay I forgot my A/V cables and no stores carried ones that were compatible with the Wii, my heart was torn. My brand new console gets no love? I eventually convinced my parents that for Christmas I wanted an Xbox 360, at the time it sounded like a sweet idea. They did buy me one and I was excited, I got Forza Motorsport, boy that game sucked but it was bundled.

When I got back from Florida I instantly went to my local GameStop and bought Gears of War and boy did my Nintendo Fanboyism end the second I got home, the stunning visuals and the fluid game play were all amazing and the best part about it is I could just play and not worry about pointing at the screen. Eventually I got rid of my 19in SD TV and swapped it for a 27" HDTV and did that make things even better. With time my 360 library expanded first Gears then Lost Planet, Overlord, BioShock, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed.. I purchased all the big blockbusters just to stay with the "in crowd" every game but 2 that I purchased I absolutely loved (Halo 3, Mass Effect). After the big disappointment with Mass Effect I thought it was time that I stopped being such a "one" console kid, and I started looking into buying PS3's.

My girlfriend (rocks) and I both wanted BC so we could play games together that she enjoyed, since she's not a huge fan of this gen's games. She even refers to Assassins Creed as Aladdin, eventually she ended up buying me/us one for Christmas a shiny new 60GB I was shocked that she actually went out to spend that much money but I was also excited that I now owned all 3 consoles. At first I thought that the "ou's" and "ah's" were done with after Gears since I thought it was graphics king.. but then I got my hands on Uncharted and boy did my jaw drop. No longer am I blind to fanboyism! For I am a hypocrite. The end.

Oh yeah, my Wii hasn't been played since November 26th, 2006 it's a pretty bad console at least IMO too gimmicky and the games are all pretty much the same noone actually utilizes the motion sensors and the Wii-Motes.
