Sweet. They didn't pare down the game and give PC games a generic current-gen port.
Looking at those specs, this *actually* sounds like a next-gen game! Hopefully Assassin's Creed is equally forward-thinking so I can put my new-ish graphics card to use! (and....probably max it out at "High", rather than "Ultra" - but I'm entirely fine with that....)
Yup, all of us in the Pacific Northwest thank Yamauchi-san for saving our team; there would be no Mariners today without him. And we have no problem with Nintendo maintaining ownership of the team.
But for all that is right and good in this world, *please* fire Howard Lincoln. He's destroying Yamauchi's great work (1995-2002 Mariners = fun. Thereafter = who cares).
@gabrielperry They keep talking about customization. I'm betting that means they won't leave out their long-time Windows-using customers.
I see nothing but upside for me as an end-user. And as someone who uses a controller on Steam (rather than keyboard & mouse), hopefully this provides yet another inducement to devs to include gamepad support.
Hopefully Sony lines up third-party support right off the bat so it launches with games that are actually interesting, rather than a mini-game collection. (*cough* PlayStation Move, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Kinect *cough*).
I am completely fine waiting for the higher-def PS4/XB1/PC releases. But they don't want me to wait, so they won't give their fans a full accounting of where these rumors are coming from; just a terse denial. (And remember: where there's smoke, there's fire.)
They want me to buy the PS3/Xbox360 version at its release, and will then ask me to buy the HD versions six months (or so) later. Their lack of transparency is frustrating.
This is just smart by Sony. Work with the people in charge of *actual* messaging - the instore staff at places like GameStop - and make sure they evangelize the system to their teams, who in turn tell customers. Sounds like Sony worked something out with GameStop for a greatly reduced price (or even free) to help generate buzz and awareness of the product.
