Update on my Boycott

They didn't lock my thread. Probably because no one has posted to it since 9 this morning and it's probably on page 100 by now. Ah well. So they boycott isn't permanent. I think it will definately be a while before I post there again, though.

Boycott Playstation 2 forum

I posted a thread about some games coming out today in the PS2 forum and the first two posts were that it is spam. I asked if anyone's getting any of the games, how they think they'll do review-wise, and how long they think it'll take to get all the games that come out today reviewed. Yet there are threads about getting some of the games. I didn't check, but I bet no one accussed them of spam. So how is mine spam? I even gave my opinion of a game and said I'm really looking forward to it. So I'm boycotting the PS2 forum until someone gives me a decent reply to my post. If it does get locked for spam, my boycott will be permanent. At least my post had multiple games in it, so people could have saved making new topics. I'll let everyone (me, since no one else reads this) know how my struggle against my oppressors goes.

Missed my Exam!!

I missed my exam for my 9:30 class this morning. I woke up at 10:25. Class ends at 10:45. I knew I didn't have time to make it and take the exam. Plus I have class at 11:00. So I e-mailed my teacher as fast as I could. Of course, the connection to my computer was being crappy like always, so I had to go to the computer lab to email her. Pretty straight-forward, right?

Well, not for me. I hate having to ask to make-up assignments. I have a Criminal Justice Systems class on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM. I missed it one week and didn't go see my instructor about what I missed. Turns out I missed an essay assignment. As much as I need every grade I can get in that class, I didn't-no, I couldn't- ask for an opportunity to make it up. I'm sure he would have let me. I couldn't though. I had missed class. Further, I had not taken responsibility and gone to his office to get what I missed. It was my fault. By asking for an extension of the deadline, I was making myself more important than the rest of the class.

Brainstorming for SSC flyer/newspaper article

I'm gonna use my journal for brainstorming today. So I had this idea last night for the Sierra Student Coalition. It's called "The Sierra Student Coalition's 'Do's, Don'ts, Hints, and Tips for On-Campus Recycling."

DO'S

Do recycle plastics labled #1. This includes mainly soda bottles (any size) and most hand-soap bottles. *find more examples*

Do recycle plastics labled #2. This includes gallon milk jugs (even if used for something other than milk), detergent bottles, motor oil bottles, *Find more examples*

Do recycle office/notebook/printer paper. Do recycle Newspaper

Do recycle any type of glass Do recycle aluminum cans. This includes soda and beer cans

Do take off all tops to any kind of bottle, plastic or glass. The tops cannot be recycled because they are not 1 or 2 plastic. It will save us loads of time if everyone could remove the tops to their bottles before putting them in the bins. THANK YOU!!!

DONT'S

Don't recycle plastic UNLESS it has a 1 or a 2 inside the recycle symbol.

Don't put cardboard of any kind in the paper bins. The Sierra Student Coalition cannot recycle cardboard. This includes pizza boxes, canned soda or beer boxes, snack boxes, or any other kind of box. Again, no cardboard in the paper bins, only office or news paper.

Don't put magazines in the paper bin. Magazines have a glossy material over the paper that cannot be removed, making the paper unrecyclable. Please throw magazines in the trash.

Don't put tin cans in the can box, as we cannot take tin cans at this time. We are working on getting a tin can recycling program, but it is not ready at this time.

Don't put trash in the bins. Come on, people. These bins are a privilage to you, us, and our environment. We are doing this as a volunteer service, and we don't need to pick through people's trash to get what we need. The bins are located a few feet from the trash room in all dorms, so please take the time to put trash in its proper place, not the bins. Think about how you would feel if someone threw trash on a project you were trying to complete.

HINTS & TIPS

If possible, please wash out all bottles and cans before putting them in the bin. This is not required for recycling purposes, but it does help us not have to wade through sticky funk when emptying the bins. If you cannot, it is ok but please try to.

Instead of taking one or two pieces of recycling down at a time, stock up on some bags from the Lane Center and keep them in your room. Fill them up with recyclables and when they get full, take the bags down to the bins. It saves you time and space and helps us out too.

Welp, that's all i've got for now. Hopefully I'll think of some more stuff later. Good to get it out of my memory so I don't have to worry about forgetting it.

First Entry

This is the first entry in my journal. Sorry its not more fitting. Ah well, it leaves lots of room for improvement.
