So today I went with my daughter on her first field trip. Let me tell you, it was amazing. I had the greatest time, but I think she had a little more fun then I did. We went to the Audobon Zoo, here in New Orleans and basically stayed in the "Safari" section the entire time, except when we went to see the tigers and panthers.
Well, I took a lot of pictures and got a lot of video's of her just having a blast, grabbing her friends hands and bringing them up to the fences and glass windows and pointing out every single inch of every animal we saw today. I love her, she is going to grow up to be so smart, at least that's what it seems like from this point. She's always asking what something is, and you tell her once and she has it down pact into her memory cells.
All the 2 and 3 year olds were wearing little safari hats and we stayed in front of every exhibit for a while, because they got to get construction paper and crayons and paint to draw and color the animals they were looking at. And then they practiced the letters that made up the animals name. The kids had lots of fun and made some interesting art pieces as well. When we were looking at a tiger she told me she wanted one, so I told her "we'll see" :P
At the end of the day all the kids were worn out and very tired, to my liking. I new the ride home would be a little more quiet as I had 6 kids riding with me. Well, after all the kids passed out, I hear in the background my daughter saying "Knock Knock" (and this is a little game we play, where you say who's there, and she will say Kitty Kat and just bust out laughing and do it over and over) but I wasn't falling for it, so I asked her if she had fun today and enjoyed all the animals that were there. Then for the next 20 minutes she was making different animal sounds from the animals that we saw. And the funniest one was when she went "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and I was like, I didn't say anything sweety, and she made the noise again....so I was kind of confused, and then she said "SNAKE" real loud and went "Shhhhhhhh" again. So, that was her impression of a snake, I suppose.
All in all, we had a great day today, and I'm so glad I was able to go and be there for my child's first field trip.
