Hi, I just got a new PC and want to get into an MMO.  I'm thinking of these four...any help?

1) WOW - The pros would be that all of my friends are on this; the drawbacks would be that I'm coming in really late and I kinda don't like to follow the trends of what everyone else is doing.

2) GUILD WARS - Been thinking about getting this one for a while but don't know too much about it.  No monthly fee, which is good.

 3) LOTR ONLINE - I like the universe of LOTR, but like GUILD WARS, I don't really know anything about the gameplay.

 4) Star Wars Galaxies - the pros would be that I already own the game discs; the drawback would be that I hear it's a pretty broke game nowadays...

Well, you can't study all the time.  Everyone has hobbies, be it working in the yard, fixing up your car, making home movies, or playing video games. I'm a college graduate and a hardcore gamer...the two can be acieved concurrently. I think the problem with a lot of kids these days is their playing duration; they'll stay in all weekend and go at it for like eight, ten hours at a time.  Limit yourself.  If you spend 3-5 hours a day playing games, cut it down to an hour and a half.

Loved KH1. KH2, however, is nowhere near as good.  For one, the story is absolutely horribly convoluted.  The first had a good narrative and you really got into the story; this one, however, has a story that makes little-to-no sense and is pointless to boot (you basically search for King Mickey and Rikku - that's it.  That's the story).  Gameplay-wise, I guess you could say KH2 is better, but only if you like a hundred things thrown at you at once.  KH1 had a subtle, but realized, combat system; it was fun and easily accessible.  KH2, not so much, especially considering the worlds are a lot smaller and there's a lot less exploring.  Oh, and KH2 is WAAAAY easy, even on the hardest setting.  The first had one of the most challenging bosses out there.

...just got back from a book signing where Drew Karpyshyn was signing copies of his book DARTH BANE: PATH OF DESTRUCTION...he was lead writer for Bioware on KOTOR I and is now a consultant to LucasArts and Lucasfilm...he was asked about KOTOR III and said that it is not even in the pre-stages of development and to not expect it until at least 2009 at the earliest...he was asked if he'd be involved and he said that it probably wouldn't be a Bioware project but he'd love to write the novelization for LucasFilm...he said that the current plan is to focus on the FORCE UNLEASHED marketing blitz in the fall and that then move on to the new CLONE WARS cartoon and that the next STAR WARS games after would be focused on them...he also said that the TV series is set for '09 but he doesn't have much details...so there it is: no KOTOR 3 in development as of yet. It's really weird to see LucasArts let their three biggest STAR WARS franchises (Battlefront, KOTOR, and Republic Commando) go without sequels...

FFVIII was my FAVORITE of the Final Fantasies.  It wasn't as "accessible" to the general gamership as, say, VII or IX, which means it doesn't get as much noteriety, but to the hardcore RPG'er it was tons deeper than VII in terms of maturity and content.  FFVII = casual gamers; FFVIII = mature, hardcore RPG'ers.
