Too many metal bands are trying to push some form of gimmick or concept beyond its use. For example, Tool is a completely worthless band. They attempt to be deep just for the sake, and come off as a shallow band. Pseudo-Intellectuals will try to tell you otherwise.

People who listen to loads of extreme metal (me) come off as closeminded, but I don't listen to just metal. I like classical, ambience, and a little bit of rock. The problem is people listen to horrible songs due to their popularity, hooks, and catchy beat. Music that is only catchy is not good music.

A musician's views != a musician's music. NSBM as far as I know isn't even attached to the music, just the band's views. Black metal is black metal, death metal is death metal, heavy metal is heavy metal.

Varg is a murderer,arsonist,racist....was a nazi and probably alot of other things. If you can listen to music made by such a dispicable human being...well thats you, but I couldnt ever listen to music made by a Nazi whether it is actually NSBM or the musician is just a terrible person. Come to think of it...lots of black metal bands are racist.
