WAHEY!!! Just got it sorted. Try this, go into the PS3 setting, go to display settings, choose HDMi and manually set it up. Tick all boxes EXCEPT 1080p (leave 1080p unticked) and try that. Worked for me. I originally tried ticking 1080i and leaving 1080p blank but didn't work. Strangely, even my wallpaper disapeared?? God know what happened after that last update.

Hi Anthony. My system has done exactly the same thing. It has been fine for years, PS3 thru HDMi into an Onkyo receiver into a Sharp Aquos LCD. Did a PS3 update to 3.60 (i think) the other day, all seemed fine. Turned machine off, turned on again the next day and it is only showing 576p display. If I go onto the PS3 display setting (which are now showing at 576p) and set to auto, it then attemps to go to 1080 but then says 'out of range'. Did a complete reset on the Onkyo but made no diff. Changed HDMi leads, again no diff. Sky HD is still inked up to the Onkyo and that is fine, displaying @ 1080 thru HDMi. As it stands, the PS3 still now only displays at 576 and I do not have a clue what is up with it.
