With the release of Pokemon X & Y for the Nintendo 3DS on the horizon, it's easy to forget how some of us got introduced to this great series.

On this date (September 30th) back in 1998 Pokemon Red & Blue were released in North America. These two games essentially started a revolution that would later become a multi-million dollar franchise with a long and storied history filled with many hours of joy and a couple with frustration.
