Storm of War: Battle of Britain, the successor to IL-2. No one really talks about that unless it's on the ubi.com forums.

Now, I understand people have a tremendous emotional connection with WWII, and that it makes a good backdrop because Nazi's as the enemy (even though you kill German soldiers most of the time, and not Nazis) gives the player the "moral high-ground", but I gotta say I'm sick ofWWII as a background. Why can't they come out with some sweet war games based off of different wars? How about the Civil War, for example? How about WWI? How about anything before 1940? Please? I'd love a game based off of the American Revolution or something.

SentientGames

While I'm a big fan of WWII games, I agree with this. It seems there's a new WWII game every month, and it's the rare one that is innovative enough to stand out. I wouldn't mind seeing some more Vietnam era games, and Korean War as well. Hell, we haven't had a good Korean War flight sim since MiG Alley.

I play both, but I'll tend to favor one or the other depending on what I want to play.  I would rather play a FPS on my xbox, but if it's something like a flight sim or an RTS, the PC win hands down.........particularly with flight sims.  Using a console controller to fly a plane is frustrating, and all of the console flight sims have a major "arcade" feel.

There were rumors that MW5 was in development, but as cancelled before it got past the basic planning stages.  I heard that about 3 years ago.  Of course, that doesn't mean their will never be another game, just not now.  MW2 is still my favorite.  When I get a new computer, I'm going to load win95 or 98 on my old one so I can play it.  It doesn't like XP.

Well, my system is only a little faster (2.8 ghz, 512 RAM, GF5200 card), so here are a few games that run well on my system that may run fairly decent on yours:

Tron 2.0

No One Lives Forever 2

Baldur's Gate I & II

Icewind Dale I & II

Temple of Elemental Evil

IL-2

Flanker 2.0 or 2.5

Medal of Honor

Unreal II

Mechwarrior 3

Mechwarrior 4

Mechwarrior 4 Mercs

I have all of these, and while some aren't so great (mainly Unreal II), there are a few that are pretty cool.

I have Halo as well, the only way to get it to run halfway decent on my system is at 800x600 with most of the details turned off.

Mechwarrior 2. I Burned the songs to a CD-R and listen to it in the car, along with some selected tracks from the Ghost Bear add-on and MW2 Mercs. Fantastic music.

Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate had some great music as well. The mellow theme from Baldur's Gate II just popped into my head as I type this.

I wouldn't mind taking a few of the heavier tracks from some of these songs and covering them in my band (I'm a bassist in a rock band).

mechwarrior 3.

considering the the fact that MW4 and all its expansions are absolute garbage, i definantly think that MW3 deserves a remake/sequel (MW5 anyone?, or perhaps an MMO set in the mechwarrior universe? wouldn't that rock?)

too bad microsoft have the right to the franchise and arent exactly planning on making it... :(

which is a damn shame if you ask me...

Damn Straight.  MW3 was a fantastic game.  I actually liked MW4 Mercs, but MW3 was still the better game.  But, MW2 blew them all away.  That game, with today's graphics, would rock.

These all need sequels:

Crusader

Starcraft

Mechwarrior

Mech Commander

Baldur's Gate

Icewind Dale

Fallout

Also, Terra Nova needs to be either remade or there needs to be a sequel. It would never happen either way, but I can dream!

Longbow 1 & 2, and F-15 were my favorite flight sims for a long, long time. Great games. WWII Fighters was ok, but the only thing it had over a game like EAW was the graphics.

What I really liked about Jane's was the attention to details, like comprehensive manuals, and historical material in the sim, for instance the museum in WWII Fighters that had all the specs on each plane, as well as the little movies and such. Those were nice touches.

It would be nice to see something from them again, though I'm not complaining too much. I have Lock On, IL-2, and Pacific Fighters to keep me quite busy for a long time.
