Looking for 1v1 battle in about 15-20 minutes. If anyone is down, put your name and # up and I'll add you and look for you.

I don't use ubers, and don't really care if you do, but mypokes are EV trained. If you don't know what that means (like the last few kids I've played) you may get the crap kicked out of you. Just wanted to let you know.

[QUOTE="StephenBassford"] They may be on different platforms, and be different genres, but they are all VIDEO GAMES. And they all cost the same price when they first came out. We HAVE to compare cross genre, or else we get reviews like Wario Ware. According to Gamestop, wario ware is the best Wii game. Could they all honestly say that? Are any of them, ANY still playing wario ware? Probably not. What has become fanboy's complaining uncontrollably and unrightfully about Gamespot's view of the wii has became a justified and rightful argument due to contradicting reviews, and a flawed rating system.Skylock00
Actually, a handful of GS editors still play WarioWare, but that's irrelevent to my point, which demonstrates the inherent flaw in trying to compare scores in the first place...it really just doesn't work at all, given that the basis for the scores are different, meaning that they can't be compared directly against eachother in any sort of really meaningful way.

If we aren't supposed to compare scores, then why give scores? If the reviews here are like beautiful poetry, incapable of quantification or comparison, and so intricately tied to the subjective situation of each individual game - then why put a number at the top of the review? Why not simply write an essay about the game and the feelings that the reviewer had while playing?

You know why. Because that is*****. It's a cop out to not take responsibility forthe score. Plain and simple. The entire point of a review - and to give a numerical score - is to enable gamers to compare games. If there is some "inherent flaw" that results from using GS scores to do that, then they aren't doing their job right.

When your pokemon fight and gain experience, they gain a little boost their stats depending on what pokemon they beat along the way. These are called Effort Values (EVs for short). All in all, you can boost your pokemon's stats by up to 63 points in 2 stats. So you can boost what values you need. It helps focus your power, so that you can make extra fast and strong pokemon, instead of spreading the points around everywhere. It takes time though, because you have to kill tons of the same pokeon in a row and run away from everything else. It takes a lot of time (a day or two for each, depending on how much you play), but it makes a difference.

serebii.net has everything you could possibly want to know about this.

go to serebii.net and read up on EV training. It takes a long time to hatch eggs and find the right nature and then do all of the EV training, but it pays off.

The top row on my trainer card are about 80, the bottom row is just at 50 or so. The stat training is what makes the big difference.

I learned at the tournament that speed makes all the difference in the world in this game. Your pokemon either need to be able to beat the other guy to the punch or they need to be able to take a serious beating and heal themselves afterwards. Did some serious tweaking to my team after that.

Yeah, it's like the battle tower, except it will bring you up to that level too. Makes things a bit more fair.
