Yes it does play reg dvd's. Oh by the way there is the $499 version ps3 with 20 gig hd hdmi hookup and still has blueray player for $50 more than the 360 with 1yr subscription of live. And if you don't have a hdtv I'm sure its in future plans so don't over look the fact of the built in blueray player and if you do please post back in 6months or year when you do get one and have to buy a seperate player or the add on. Also I do mention the hdmi hookup cause to me and my samsung 50" plasma that is huge component hook up just not nearly as sweet and delightful as hdmi. Also I'm not trying to get anyone to buy the ps3 just tired of the price arugement . PS3 just not be for you.

Why don't everyone quit bashing dang. Ok the 360 got great games ok. PS3 will be getting there out aswell. Yes 360 is cheaper but its whos eyes your looking through. The price tag argument is just not even an arguement at all. If a 360 owner doesn't see the difference in the 2 systems that causes the difference then so be it but I will go over this just to some it up. $399 20 gig xbox +1year subscription (online) $49.99= $449.99 + $99.00 wireless adaptor +199.99 hd-dvd addon=$749.00. Ok PS3 60 gig version w/ wifi, media card reader, blueray player builtin, actuall hdmi slot = $599.99. Yea you do get a headset with the 360. But as you can see its all about the hardware and whether or not you want to have it. As a older pc gamer whos gaming life is slowing down then I want to get the one that has the most features and its the PS3. PC gaming I have never had a friends list or these other things so Live or home doesn't matter. Yes you can say blueray doesn't matter also but I would never play a pc game with graphics turned down and the res set to 800x600 but if you don't have a hdtv and those that don't care about the blueray then prolly don't have a hdtv that is all your doing. So please no more about the price difference cause no matter which system I buy I will get my moneys worth just by having a hdtv. If you don't have a hdtv then you already spent to much money on your system no matter which one. PS 3 owners don't worry the games will come soon!
