Well, this week, I finished reading Desperation by Stephen King. Here's what I thought about it:
This book is great. Absolutely great. The ambiance, the characters, the story, the gore, the romance, hell, the everything!
The story opens up with a wife and husband driving down a deserted highway, and they pass a car nailed to a speed limit sign. Then they get pulled over, and one thing leads to another, and the man gets shot and the girl kidnapped. Now, this happened to both a van with a wife, husband, and a daughter and son, and finally an author. They are all put in jail (except, unfortunately, the little girl, for she is thrown from the top of the stairs and broke her neck.) along with an old man who has been there longer than them. The story then becomes more fantasy oriented, as they learn slowely about the an ancient curse, hundreds of dead China-men, and a place called the China Pit.
Now, there is only one bad part about this book. As time goes on, only a reader with a decent reading skill will be able to follow the story. (Most of the story is explained by a man the boy met in his dream, who he believes is God. He is extermely religious, and there have been several "Miracles" happening with him.)
So, I recommend this book to anyone who loves horror novels with a very story driven plot. But it is definately on the advanced side, so be warned.
