Starcraft 1.1 patch update, and reviews coming soon!

Yes the new patch has finally came out, making alot of terrans (and a few protoss players) very unhappy, although zerg seems fairly content.

The new patch has mad alot of people unhappy, so alot of people go on b.net crying about how bad it is. honestly, as a protoss player i dont find it to bad. seeing as the first thing that zerg likes to do to a protoss player is zergling rush.

but i havnt found this too hard to defend. so i dont know what people are talking about.

And ofcourse. i have recently recieved Prototype and Just cause 2. these 2 games have been compared alot, and from what i have seen, to some from biast opinoins (usually, the person who owns the game with be agaisnt the person who owns the other game)

so from this, i will be doing a detailed review on the 2 games, in a strict comparison. not to see whats better, just to show you how they both are and the differences between the 2.

I have recieved these games today, it will be a while before i do these reviews (and get a more fine detail and feel on what the games are like)

stay updated to my blog, ill be bringing some more PC game news soon!!!!

The Proxy Pylon and Starcraft II patch 1.1 update

As a Protoss player, i have been studying up on my pylon placements. from what i have learnt, this is a very crucial part of the game.

as i have read on some

Ive tried this strategy, only suit for Delta Quadrant.

You create the proxy pylon (in the niftty corner, outside their exanpsion) this strategy has been on teamliquid.net. butim just refining it.

This is not my image, but you get the idea

As you can see, the pylon is place just outside their expansion, giving extremely easy access to their base. From my expirience, it is nice to warp in 4 zealots straight off the bat (yes, you have 4 warpgates). while doing this, you should be producing the dark templar shrine. dont attack with these zealots unless you need to. these are just a cover, or to kill any detector.

Most of the time, players dont scout this pylon. it seems uncommon. and this is VERY effective agaisnt zerg. not so much agaisnt terran, but its still a great trick for this map.

For the next proxy pylon place ive find (im not sure if others have found it) is on Tarsonis Assault 2v2 map. this is alot hard to scout for other players, unless they have flying (and they fly across and spot it)

As you can see, you have a small amount of room to warp in unit in their base. this is the same deal as for DQ. its very effective especially agaisnt zerg.

And before i forget, I have read that the new Starcraft II 1.1 patch is being released this tuesday 21st of september.

Starcraft 2, from release to patch 1.1.0

So, its almost been 2 months since the Starcraft 2 has been release.

and from my point of view, there has been many changes, similiar to what happen in the first starcraft. People start figuring out the game, little tweaks, tricks and cheap strategies. and yes, im sure most of us have been through the terrible cheese stategy, or worse. have done them ourselves.

but hey, its a game. people are a**holes anyways. way it goes.

not long ago, Raleigh, North Carolina USA held the latest MLG (Major League Gaming) hosting a variety of games such as halo, WoW, Tekkan and Starcraft 2. This was the first Starcraft 2 official event since release.

Well known starcraft player HuK took the win, in a VERY exciting last match, which was Collossi vs Collossi. if you wish you could possibly find the replays on youtube.

now, the patch which is expected mid-september (pretty much now) as Blizzard had posted on Battle.net showing a list of nerfs, particulary aimed at Terran and Protoss.

these are what were posted on Battle.net (official release) http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/692221

Balance Changes

We have several balance changes in store. One general change we're making is that friendly units will no longer provide vision after being killed. Enemy units previously revealed will no longer be targetable. Now let's break down the additional balance changes we're implementing.

Maps

We're going to be adding destructible rocks to the Desert Oasis map to make natural expansions easier to protect. In addition, the center map watchtower area is being narrowed.

Protoss

We have two key changes in mind for the zealot: the build time is being increased from 33 to 38 seconds, and the warpgate cooldown is being increased from 23 to 28 seconds. Zealot rushes are currently too powerful at various skill levels, particularly those that rely on rapidly assaulting an enemy base from nearby "proxy" gateways. We feel the window players have to scout for and fend off this rush is too small. We also want to address the problem of protoss being able to dump minerals a bit too quickly with the combination of warpgates and Chrono Boost.

Terran

There are several changes in the works for terrans. Reapers against zerg are stronger than expected. Due to the zealot build time increase, reapers would be a bit problematic in combination with proxy barracks, bunkers, and/or marauders against protoss. Therefore, we have decided to increase the build time of reapers as well from 40 to 45 seconds. Fast reaper + bunker, or fast marine + bunker rushes are problematic against zerg. Although this rush would never outright destroy the zerg player, we feel zerg suffers too much of a disadvantage from either having to cancel the fast expansion, or getting trapped inside the main base for too long, so we are also increasing the bunker build time from 30 to 35 seconds.

Siege tanks in large numbers are performing too well in all matchups. In the mid- to late-game, siege tanks are too dominant against all ground units. We want a small set of light and unarmored ground units to perform better against siege tanks. With this in mind, we're changing the Siege Mode damage of the siege tank from 50 to 35, +15 vs. armored; to correspond with this, damage upgrades will be changed from +5 to +3, +2 vs. armored. This change reduces the base damage of the siege tank against light and unarmored units, as well as the splash damage.

Battlecruisers currently lack good counters from the ground and still perform very well against a wide array of unit types. We're aware that it is not easy to get battlecruisers out for the cost, but at the same time, it is possible in both 1v1s and team games to create stalemate situations to bring them out. Overall, we feel that battlecruisers are too strong for their cost, and the terran-forced stalemate situations are causing less interesting gameplay. We will be lowering their damage against ground units from 10 to 8.

Zerg

Ultralisk damage is being decreased from 15, +25 vs. armored to 15, +20 vs. armored. This reduction is comparable to the changes being made to the battlecruiser and siege tank. Like the battlecruiser, ultralisks are simply too powerful for the cost, even though they are difficult to muster. Also, in combination with other units, ultralisks are difficult to counter from the ground. The ultralisk building attack (Ram) is being removed because the damage rate is too similar to its normal attack, which will be used against buildings instead. When ultralisks target tightly packed smaller buildings such as supply depots, the Ram attack is actually outputting considerably less overall damage than its normal attack, as Ram only hits a single target.

From these changes, must make terran fairly unhappy, although seige tanks are totally OP. And as for Protoss, this is a little interesting, they get ling rushed in most zerg vs protoss games. From my opinion, this isnt fair. But, they can continue Void Ray Rush, kill the queen and secure a decent economy.

And for those of you, who wish to get better at Starcraft 2, or who are new to the game. i suggest you watch Husky Starcraft videos on youtube, and by his good friend HD starcraft. these videos are totally interesting, really good match ups and the best commentary you could possible get (yes these guys commentate for the MLG, so they are no noobs)

I shall be posting more blogs, and updates on the new patch ASAP. laters!!!
