RIP Mr. Furley

Legendary comic actor Don Knotts passed away today due to complications from lung cancer. True TV fans will always remember him for his portrayal of Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith show, and later one as Mr. Furley on Three's Company. He was also in many Disney movies including the Apple Dumpling Gang. I read that along with his family members, Andy Griffith was at his side when he died. Griffith describes Knotts as a life-long friend. I cannot think of anyone who could have played Barney Fife any better. The bumpling deputy to Sherif Andy, who was only allowed one bullet to carry around. But he was also a deputy with a heart of gold. When he had to replace the Ropers, he had big shoes to fill, and he did a wonderful job. John Ritter and Knotts made a brilliant comedic team. Furley thought of himself as a macho man-stud, who had no problem with the ladies. But truth be told, wasn't good with the ladies at all. When he played Mr. Furley, he had a bit where he did really bad karate chops when he got angry and acted like he wanted to fight. I still imitate that bit to this day. I grew up watching TC; therefore, this particular death is kind of hard. Not quite as hard as John Ritter's death. Luckily, Knotts did live a long, full life. His passing isn't shocking like Ritter's. One good thing is that the two are back together again. Rest in Peace, Don Knotts. And thanks for the laughter and the memories.
