I was going to make a joke about land fish, then I saw this:

*shudders*

Anyway, I think homo sapiens are actually the invading alien race in any sci-fi movie ever - hell bent on depleting the natural resources of this planet before moving on to the next one. Except we do it for profit, not survival. I'm not sure if that makes it worse or not.

@howmakewood: Dude. "Bandwidth" is the rate at which your data transfers to or from a server. Download and upload speeds are themselves bandwidth, but expressed as a speed, i.e, "20 megabits per second".

@GTR12: I'm in the industry. If you're playing p2p or fps, you need at least 4 mpbs upload, or else you end up aiming like a storm trooper.

I know this is a couple of weeks old, but I just wanted to chime in with my 2 cents. 22 mbps is great for screen loads (or any data that comes to your console from the game server), but that's really only half of your gaming experience. When you are playing online, every time you click or press a button, you are sending a signal out to the game server. So when you shoot at another player, the thing that controls whether you hit or miss them is your upload speed, not your download speed. Most games need at least a 4 mbps upload speed, and that's bare minimum. 1.5 mbps is just not going to cut it. I suggest shopping around for a different internet service provider, or at least getting a plan with a better upload speed.

Go to this site: https://internetprovidersbyzip.com

Type in your zip code on the top right, and it should give you a list of providers near you, and usually even plans and prices. Hope this helps, and good luck!

If the town is really secluded then they might not even have any access to any DSL or cable providers. If that's the case then their best option would probably be satellite. It's a lot better than dial-up, but it's expensive for the speeds you get and it still sucks for online gaming because of high latency. There could also be a local wireless provider, though it probably wouldn't be good for online play either.

And I actually just typed all that up for no reason since I looked up internet providers in that area - https://www.inmyarea.com/internet/59860/providers

Basically the 2 best options are Century Link and Charter, neither of which I'm familiar with but some of the speed options look good. Why they would have dial-up is beyond me unless they live too far from the town or something, which could be the case.

Yeah, 8 second lag with satellite is frustrating, and will get you killed fast in fps games. 0/10, would not recommend. Not to mention the data limit most satellite ISPs have. It's pretty much the same story for wireless. Laggy, with data limits. It sucks.

It does look like there is dial up there! That's too funny. I didn't even know people still had that. Anyway, I did a quick search for the Polson zip code, and found that there are a few faster options. They look like they are in a Centurylink area, and can get 10 mbps which isn't too bad. The upload speed isn't listed, and that's really important to know if you're using the connection for gaming. For most games, you are going to need a minimum of 4 mbps upload, or else you're going to be in lag city. Hope this helps. Good luck!

That depends. Have you changed your winter air out for summer air yet? If not, the tire pressure requirements wouldn't be the same.
