So I got Meteos the other day.....

I received an early birthday present the other day, and I must say it was a good one. I got the game Meteos, and have been hooked to it ever since. The game is very easy to jump into, and can be played for those quick 10 minute bursts, or for hours on end. It's also one of those games that's very easy to learn (I pretty much got the concept about 2-3 seconds into the game), but can be difficult to perfect. There is quite a bit of strategy involved in where, how deep, and how many of the Meteos you want to launch off, so it's good to learn those strategies.

I highly recommend anyone with a DS get this game. It is a must have, and while I haven't played Kirby yet, I think it's safe to say that Meteos is one of the best, if not the best, DS game so far.

Level 10.......finally!

I have finally reached Level 10 here at GS. The weirdest part is that it seemed like I went faster through Level 9 than any other level. Oh well, here I come Level 11!

OMFG........Revenge of the Sith is freakin awesome!!!!

Last night, (Tuesday, May 17) I traveled to Columbus to see the premiere of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. I must say, coming into this movie was a little odd, considering that the last two weren't as good as I had hoped, and also the fact that I would walk out knowing that this would be the final movie in the Star Wars Saga.

I quickly forgot all of that when the movie came on. The classic theme music started playing, the famous introduction scrolled down the screen, and of course, the first thing you see in the movie is, of course, a space ship. The opening is actually very funny, and I was shocked to see the outcome of the first battle of the movie, considering how early into the movie it was.

After the opening battle, things slowed down a bit (as always), and we get to settle into other important parts of the movie's storyline (trying not to spoil anything here). The rest of the movie is absolutely wonderful, and the final battle(s) is/are great. I was a little disappointed by the ending of one of them, it just seemed to end in a weird way. The final moments of the movie are actually wonderful, as they tie in any last questions that you need answered.

I definitely would give this movie 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, whatever you want me to say, as long as I'm saying that the movie is great. I loved it last night, and I'm skipping school to see it tomorrow. Hope to make at least a few people jealous.

They're pulling me in, and I'm not even putting up a fight to try and get out...

I've be playing videogames for a long time now (since about 4-5 at my Unlce's....Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt were the first games I ever played on his NES), but I must admit this is the most I've ever been involved in them. I have a console, Gamecube, that I try to play often enough, but some of the games don't like me, and it really sucks (some of the games that is.....honest to god, I think i get motion sickness when I play Metroid Prime.....every time I play it, I break into a sweat within the first half hour). I got my Nintendo DS two days after it came out, and I still play my GBA for multiplayer (anyone else sensing a serious Nintendo vibe?). However, I also have a special place in my heart for Microsoft.

At first, I was never a fan of the X-Box. To tell the truth, I hated it. At the time that the system launched, I had a PS2 running wild through my head, and got it the summer after the X-Box came out. I traded the piece of crap in last year (finally!!) for my 'Cube, and haven't regretted it since. However, while I may have started out hating Microsoft because of Sony's brainwashing, I have NEVER, EVER hated Halo. It looked interesting the first time I saw some of its screenshots, and was great the first time I ever played it at my friends' house (automatic 2v2.....they're triplets).

So, noticing my love for Halo, I was totally pulled in by the hype of the release of Halo 2. The game kept getting delayed, but when it finally came out, I played it the next day. I've been playing it every weekend ever since it came out, but have never played it online until today, April 26th, 2005. Yesterday (25th, duh) my other friends (also with X-Boxes) downloaded the first Halo 2 maps, Containment and Warlock, but logged of X-Box Live afterwards so we could explore/play the maps by ourselves. Today came a welcome first for me in gaming...the first time I played online console gaming (because of my addiction to Halo, I bought the game for PC and play it online regularly, but we're talking consoles here people). After downloading Turf and Sanctuary, we played online, and I must say.....it was truly an amazing experience. Sure there's a little lag, but none compared to PC Halo. I'm definitely getting an X-Box 2 (prefer they call it that over X-Box 360).

Now that I'm addicted to Halo (again), I can truly say the place in my heart for Microsoft is much more evident. Sure, I still love Nintendo the most, but what's the point of having three available consoles if you can't love more than one? If you're asking about Sony, I most definitely have a special place for them......right by the turds in my toilet.

Please, let this not be true........

As many of you have probably already heard, Nintendo has "revolutionary" plans for its upcoming system, and its controllers as well. This is great news, at least on behalf of the system. Controller wise, I'm definitely not sold on this one yet. According to Game Informer and Gamespot's Rumor Control, Nintendo supposedly has touch screen enabled controllers. This will take away shoulder buttons, analog/joystick controllers, the d-pad, and basically all face buttons as well. This has me scared. I love Nintendo, and I love how they innovate and are not afraid to do so, but if this rumor is true, I think they've gone to far, at least this time. I, along with many, many other gamers out there, love my controllers, especially the buttons and joysticks on them. If Nintendo takes all of this away from their next controllers, this could, honest to gosh, kill them. I don't think there is a chance that this innovation will pull in more gamers than it pushes away. Besides, touch screen is for the DS, not the Revolution. Don't get me wrong, though, I love my DS to death, especially for its touch screen capabilities. However, to much touching at the same time may not be a good thing, no matter what the advertisements say. Oh yeah, one more thing. If Nintendo's next controllers are equipped with gyro sensors (sensors that tilt the controller) how in the world are you supposed to have good fun touch the controller when it's tilting around?........Just a thought. Hopefully this is just a rumor/myth and that the "revolution" is in the system, not the controllers.

Nowadays, it's really hard to hate Nintendo........

And I'm not afraid to admit it. I see the upcoming generation of consoles as probably the most important things in my life right now (no lie). Even more important is the decision I have to make (between Microsoft or Nintendo, screw Sony), or should I say, had to make. I can honestly say I was, to say the least, a bit skeptical about Nintendo's upcoming plans for the Revolution. With a Wi-Fi (and hopefully online) feature, hooking up to other consoles will be easier than ever. The other big feature, at least for me, was the option of backwards compatibility to Gamecube games. I was very doubtful about this, considering Nintendo's history of this feature. It is there, but only in handhelds. So it's safe to say that I was stunned to the point of durn near crapping my pants. Now I don't have to give up great games like Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and especially, my favorite 'Cube game, Mario Kart: Double Dash (god, I love that game). So, thanks to the announcements made at GDC, I can now fully install my faith back in Nintendo and realize I'm an idiot for doubting them at the same time.

GO NINTENDO!!!

100 Posts!!!

Just made my 100th post today. Lately I've been devoting all my time to Halo (PC), so I haven't had much time to talk here in the forums. Now that the 100% DS forum is up, I've decided to at least try to get back in the swing of things.

Does anyone have the feeling Nintendo will own 2005?

Isn't it obvious? Looking at the upcoming release dates, all you see are these retarded releases filling up the calendars (ex: an Outlaw Volleyball game, again?), save for God of War and Tekken 5, and maybe Gran Turismo 4 (with all these delays, maybe they're just denying the inevitable fact that it might suck). Then you see a mass of games under one category: Nintendo. StarFox: Assault, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and Mortal Kombat: Deception (with the exclusive inclusion of Shao Khan and Goro for the Gamecube), all within the first half of the year, all exclusive for the Gamecube. These are all very high-profile releases for the underrated 'Cube, and could be a push in sales for the system, probably somewhere along the lines of the sales Nintendo saw after the Gamecube was first lowered to $99.99.

However, the Gamecube is obviously not Nintendo's only system. They also have two excellent handhelds currently producing quality titles: the Gameboy Advance and the Nintendo DS. The GBA has a slew of great titles going for it, including Mario Party Advance, Donkey Kong: King of Swing, Warioware: Twisted, Fire Emblem 2, and for anyone that still cares, Pokemon Emerald. Once again, all these titles fall exclusive to Nintendo.

As far as the DS goes, many felt disappointed by the poor showing of launch titles for the DS. I myself wasn't impressed by any of the games besides Super Mario 64 DS (which is basically a remake, at least for the adventure portion), although I hear Feel the Magic: XY/XX isn't bad. Fear not, because 2005 is going to be the year that the DS's potential is fully realized. With quirky, innovative games like Yoshi's Touch and Go and Pac Pix being released alongside great games like Warioware: Touched, Nanostray, Sonic DS, and of course, the FULL version of Metroid Prime: Hunters (the demo alone gave me chills), the DS will truly become a powerhouse and help hold the throne for Nintendo as "portable king."

All of these awesome titles will be huge for Nintendo. If you're doubting my statement that Nintendo will own 2005, just look at two of the games they've released already. Resident Evil 4 and Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap are both huge hits, both released within a two day span (I thought Q1 is supposed to be dull!!!). Oh, and don't forget the biggest release Nintendo is planning all this year: The Legend of Zelda. Truly, Nintendo will own 2005.

Portable Cafe!!!

I just want to give a huge shout out to maximummaker and Josh00001. If you don't know already, they opened the Portable Cafe, and it's easily the best place to go and give your two cents on all existing and upcoming handhelds. Once again, I thank you two for opening up this great forum, which is way more intelligent than the old handheld boards.

P. S. Will Portable Cafe support a "hot spot" hookup for Wi-Fi, just as Starbucks and many other various places do? lol just kidding
