I watched a video of the top 10 years of gaming.Not surprising at all 2007 was voted the best.The next gen consoles just came out.The graphics in games were unbelievable.AI took a few steps forward and there was a explosion of new releases but the more I look at it and think about it,the more I wonder:What will the next ground breaking thing be?

I get this sinking feeling that the developers are running out of ideas.What possible new features can be brought out that will make us drop everything and gasp for air?I can not remember when last I played a game that really made me want to finish it.One after the other they all just remind me of each other.One just has a few more features.I can understand that they might be sticking to the "tried and trusted" formula,but sooner or later "tried and trusted" will just turn into "oh no,not again".Graphics will get better.AI will get smarter.Story lines will have more twists.But no new games leave a ever lasting impression on me.Don't get me wrong,I'm not saying the games aren't any good.I'm just noticing how very little games are getting 10/10.

And then there is the biggest problem of all.There are no new characters that will stay with us.Remember Cloud?Of course.How about Link?Stupid question isn't it?The list goes on.Lara Croft,Gordon Freeman,Mario,Duke Nukem,Leisure suit Larry(the old character,not the new one)....Who of the new charaters will we be talking about in 10 years time?None at the moment.

But I feel there might be light at the end of the tunnel.That light spells out a name:Rage.It's massive.The graphics will kick ass.The AI will be smart,but that's one game.I'm a bit scared of Final Fantasy 13.Though the main character looks complex in her own right,the worried look on her face reminds me of Cloud.And that's what worries me about it.I had to use the word "remind" in the same sentence.

We need a stand alone title.One that doesn't remind us of anything else.A new hero that will be immortalized by the gaming community.

Maybe a character should be created by us.Any ideas?Let me know.I've wanted to work on one for years now.Who knows,I might even try and program my own game.
