Marvel.com airs rerun of Spider-man 1994 + Update

It's been awhile since my last post how's everyone doing? I've been doing great. Had an awesome winter break back home in Singapore. Got my PS3 (at last) with street fighter IV and RE 5 (I know... both Capcom right? But it was unplanned believe me). I didn't enjoy Street Fighter IV as much as I would have imagined but still it was good fun (once in a while when I just want to do something mindless and hit away) but RE 5 Boy was I pleased with it. I like how Resident Evil is evolving. Moving away from that much overused dark crammed place to a more open environment concept. It's like the story is progressing and many games seem to talk about a progressive story but gameplay mechanics and settings don't change much making playing through them difficult. I prefer RE5 to RE4 actually. RE4 was revolutionary it changed the way Resident Evil games were made with new aiming and gameplay system but it was still very dark and very gloomy and at sometimes slow moving. It was a pain to go through the castle in RE4, I enjoyed the starting parts and the ending parts but I hated the castle parts. As for RE 5 why I love it so much is that it doesn't dwell in one area too long, it keeps the environment fresh and with the constant outpouring of enemies make gameplay move at a more commendable pace then RE4. If I were to rate RE5 I would rate it just as gamespot has rated it (lower than RE4) but if you ask me which game I'll recommend, I'll definitely recommend RE 5 period.

So anyway, besides getting my PS3 I did the usual things I did back home. Hanging out with friends, catching up, watching movies, eating good food etc. But I guess this was the best winter break given how I actually had a chance to go have some outdoor fun. Thanks to my girlfriend(and potentially future wife) who really is just awesome to be with. So if she's reading this thanks babe. So sad that school had to reopen, would really like to spend more time with her but well I believe the seeds have been sown and that I've done all I can. God's gonna provide the increase and the favour with her. Amen.

Right now, I'm kinda working on my thesis back in Perth. Stuck at 550/15000 words which is kinda a pain I really believe it'll be finished by the due date. Don't know how don't know why, I just know it!!! Praise God for the sound mind and the confidence. My trust is in You.

Oh yea, coming to the main thing I wanted to post about. Marvel is reairing the 1994 Spider-man cartoon (for free at the moment just stream at their site: here). Yay! I always wondered why there wasn't a dvd for this series. Probably one of the best Spidey cartoons out there. But I'm contented just to be able to watch it again. Another thing for me to thank Jesus for heh. So yea I don't know how many of you loved it as much as I did but I thought I'd just post it up here. Note that new episodes air every Wednesday and this past Wednesday (5/8/09) was episode 1: Night of the Lizard. I just pray to God that this free service will remain for all 52 episodes in Jesus name. hehe

Thats all from me. All the best and God bless you all~

Resident Evil/Biohazard Outbreak Professional Play

Well I just bought a PAL version not too long ago just to pro-play it through... So right now officially I have 3 copies of this game!!! Jp version and US version are back home in Singapore and PAL version I'm currently playing it on my friend's PAL region PS2. Ah.. reliving those tense moments just never felt soo good. Still, I hate the mutated bugs in this game be it wasps, spiders, stick insects, leeches just ewww disgusting stuff. They creep me out with their wierd noises and irritating attacks. Oh hate those crows too; they make me waste ammo. Anyways, the reason why I bought another copy was because I was inspired by professional players that post their videos on youtube. I just wanted to know if I could do what they do too. One of them is this dude, he's one of the best... apparently he completed all the chapters in very hard mode without taking damage which is really awesome. I'm doing a speed run now and have just completed the 5 chapters on normal in just under 3 hours. Going for hard next. And oh this time I promise when I'm done I'll write up that long awaited review hehe. Opps break time over. Gotta go study for my exam now see you guys in a couple of days. Hopefully with Hard Mode completed (exam finishes on Wednesday hehe).

Biohazard/Resident Evil, the only must-have game series for me!

The cutscene that started it all...

I don't claim to be the no.1 Resident Evil fan in the world but I do have much love for this series. The first time I got into Resident Evil was probably the movie with Milla Jovovich. I was just about 13 then. I thought the show was pretty decent, something new, something out of the ordinary. It was the first time where a monster/horror flick had any brains involved. I fancied the idea of a virus turning humans into mindless freaks who just crave for meat (before you say anything, this was considered my first zombie flick so the concept of being "infected" was new to me). Also, the idea of a well-known, rich and powerful pharmaceutical company producing and researching such dangerous biohazards really appealed to me.

Anyways, what really made me a fan was RE Outbreak for the PS2. It was my very first Resident Evil game. Sure, the diehard fans really rated it lowly and the gameplay was at times annoying (with uncooperative team mates), but still I enjoyed it. You see, the Resident Evil series isn't a mindless series build upon a fixed, trial and tested gameplay but rather the foundation is found in its storyline/setting. After finishing outbreak, I just couldn't help but go and read up on the entire Resident Evil synopsis. And slowly, I found myself liking more and more the characters, the deep plot with the big pharmaceutical companies and all the politics that are going on and of course the evolution of the viruses.

In 2005, I got my first taste of RE 4 at a friend's place on his gamecube. Even though I barely just scratched the surface then, I personally felt that RE 4 was quite possibly one of the best games I've ever played. Later that year, Capcom announced the game's release on the PS2, I was estatic and immediately got my copy when it was released. Boy I was real pleased with it. The first time I played through it, I took my time to fully enjoy it and only completed it in 25 hours. The 2nd time I played it, I chose to play it on the highest difficulty and did a speed run through and I managed to clear it in just under 8 hours. Personally, I thought Capcom hit the jackpot in RE 4. They got the gameplay formula right. Previous games like Outbreak and the rest of the main series gave players a very limited aiming system that was at times clumbersome and annoying. But with over-the-shoulder aiming, it gave gamers more freedom to look around as well as more accurate aim. All in all, I wasn't surprised that RE 4 won game of the year.

Today, the focus has shifted to RE 5 and I'm looking forward to playing it at the end of the year when I get my hands on my PS3. So anyway, this is all I could come up with regarding my constant positive rants with this series. Hopefully, there're some like-minded Resident Evil game admirers like me out there. If not, to the rest of you reading, shalom and be blessed.

Splinter Cell Conviction Resurfaces with new teaser site

Ubisoft has decided to reveal more little secrets about Splinter Cell Conviction before I believe, releasing a big bombshell at E3 this year. Splinter Cell, like many other games have evolved. It's no longer defined by genre but by the story the man Sam Fisher. So yes, I'm pretty excited for the series. Ubisoft has decided to let its story drive it and I just can't wait to see where it goes. Good news from that webby is that the second bullet hole opens today and I just can't wait for it!

Chuck Renewed for Season 3!!!!!

Praise the Lord!!! This is good news. I was crossing my fingers for such news at the end of season 2. Hopefully, the 13 episode order will extend and hit 20+ episodes like season 2. Chuck still has lots of life in it. I believe that it can run for a good season or 2 more. So anyways I am done with my ranting! Celebrate fellow Chuck-lovers and to those who have not watched this series, I highly recommend it! It's awesome!!! (pun unintended)!!

See the news here

Edited 19 May:

An NBC spokesperson said that the third season would only premier after the winter olympics in March 2010, so it's gonna be a 10 months long wait before we see Chuck, Sarah and Co. again :( Stay tune for more updates as they are released.

WWE Judgement Day results and thoughts (spoilers)

Well the results are in. Most, in fact all of my predictions were correct but certain outcomes weren't the way I thought they will go.

John Morrison def Shelton Benjamin

I expected this to happen. WWE was going to build up J-Mo to be the next Smackdown babyface so a win fairly (not to mention with flair) is just what he needs to get fans in his back. I pity Shelton Benjamin though. His in-ring atheletism is fantastic and I believe that WWE not giving him a decent win streak is actually hurting his career. Well, if your merchandises don't sell then you lose.

Umaga def CM Punk

Yup stalling CM Punk from cashing in the MITB. Pity, it's his hometown though.

Intercontinental Champtionship: Rey Mysterio (retain) def Chris Jericho

Rey took it but not for the reason that I thought it to be. Chris Jericho should be freuding with Mr 619 for some time longer. I have a feeling WWE may just want him to break his 9-time intercontinental championship record no matter how pointless that may seem.

John Cena def Big Show

What did I tell you Big Show. Use the Knockout punch! Oh well. As if Cena was ever going to lose. His merchandise sales just cannot take this hit (pun intended).

ECW Championship: Christian (retain) def Jack Swagger

Christian again outsmarted Jack Swagger here. Makes me wonder if they are building his character up to be the next Eddie Guerrero. Hopefully, thats not the case. Guerrero is in a class of his own and has his own legacy, don't spoil that by making a copy cat WWE. I am unsure what would happen to Christian from here though. I can see Christian losing the belt sometime back to Swagger with Swagger finally outsmarting captain charisma.

WWE Championship: Batista def Randy Orton (retains) (DQ)

Meh. I should have guessed Flair would be the one coming out, given how recently my sources tell me that Flair was meeting up with the WWE Board to request to come back. I think that Batista would eventually take the title off Orton but probably in later PPVs. Tag Team match between Legacy and Evolution any one? Seems like a storyline from Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 lol.

World Championship: Edge (retains) def Jeff Hardy

I got this right too but I didn't see Matt Hardy's interference coming. Seems like WWE is trying to milk whatever merchandise sales they can out of Jeff Hardy. Certainly now, after freuding with Matt, Jeff looks all set to leave the WWE. Sighs... no matter what you say about him, the daredevil antics of Jeff Hardy would certainly be missed. As for Edge, we could see that he is slowly seeing a face turn. I don't see Jeff messing with his title anymore so perhaps a decent reign as champion till CM Punk cashes in his MITB.

Well thats all the coverage from me. I think JD was a really weak PPV that could be so much more. But thats WWE for you, they take things slow and keep fans watching. Well the next PPV would be Extreme Rules. Jeff V Matt again maybe this time in a loser leaves WWE match? Hmm... well we'll see...

WWE Judgement Day Preview

Hey all, I guess I forgot to mention that since I'm now in Perth I sort of have time to actually watch some WWE. Now some of you may not know this but I was into WWE (WWF then) when I was much younger (probably 5-6 years ago). But anyways, since Judgement Day is tonite, I'd really want to do a preview on it seeing there are so many possible freuds that could stem from it. So yea, here goes.

Shelton Benjamin V John Morrison

I'm not really interested in this match given how new these 2 superstars are to me lol. But I see that this is going to be a great match to kick things off. Should be fast and furious. It's a tough one to call but I reckon J-mo would get the win given how WWE may want to build him up to become the next big thing.

CM Punk V Umaga

I actually think this match would end with a Umaga win. I personally think WWE is stalling CM Punk by making this freud. He's gonna be cashing in the MITB for the World Title eventually but not so soon (see world title match below for more).

Intercontinental Championship: Rey Mysterio (Champ) V Chris Jericho

I think Rey is gonna take this. As much as I want to see Jericho win for him recover his credibility as a big match wrestler, but i really see no point in wwe giving him an extra boost to his 9 time IC title reign. But I believe WWE may write him in as an interference in Edge's match (see below).

John Cena V Big Show

Another match that I'm not too interested in given how slow it's gonna go. Really if Big Show's knock out punch is so powerful why wouldn't he just hit Cena with it to begin with instead of wrestling the entire match slowly and painfully. Cena should win here. Looking all weak and battered over the few weeks just don't go well for his merchandise sales.

ECW Championship: Christian (Champ) V Jack Swagger

I think this is gonna be the most exciting match of the PPV. Christian since his return has wasted no time in climbing the championship ladder in ECW. In addition, Jack Swagger is a tremendous young talent. Shades of Brock Lesnar at his prime. I'm not interested in who wins just at the prospect of a good an exciting matchup. My vote however goes to Christian. I reckon WWE are out to build up his popularity levels and since Jack Swagger is a current heel I don't see him becoming champ here. But I believe the rivalry would not just end here.

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (Champ) V Batista

Another match that I don't really think will be interesting. But I believe Orton would retain here. Orton, love him or hate him, has talent and it would be wise for WWE to keep him as a top heel champ. It would be close match though with Batista hitting Spine Buster and then attempting Batista Bomb but Orton would reverse it into a RKO. Perhaps maybe Orton would attempt the head punt to take Batista out again but Triple H would come out to make the save. I expected interference from Randy's 2 goons and Shane O mac as well.

World Championship: Edge (Champ) V Jeff Hardy

I think this is the match that would really be up for much debate. Jeff Hardy as my sources tell me has yet to sign an extention to his current WWE contract so WWE would probably not want someone who is not on contract to hold the title (given how they have to plot again on how he's gonna lose it). Moreover, Edge just got the title back so losing it so soon and turning face makes his rant to Cena really uncredible. As much as I want to see Hardy win it, this match would naturally end in Edge's favour ie. him retaining his title. I belive however, Jericho would interfere giving Hardy the DQ win and then fanning flames into his rivalry with Edge and again giving Edge a really nice opportunity to turn face. But again remains to be seen. I really hope Hardy can win but oh well. Hopefully, he signs his contract extention.

That's all from me. Tune in tomorrow afternoon for the results and see how many of my predictions end up right.

Resident Evil 5 Theme Song Pray Vocal-less version Capcom Official Release

Yo guys was scouring the net for pics for my new sig and I came across the japanese biohazard 5 webby. Lo and behold due to popular demand by the fans, they released the vocal-less version of Pray. Personally I think the clear BGM makes this track really nice. It's free at the moment and you can download as many times as you want. Not sure how long it's gonna stay free though =/

A little update and a look into the future

Hey y'all how's it going? Hope everyone reading is fine. I have no idea who and how many of you are reading this but just to build my ego I'm going to assume that I at least have a decent fan base ;). Anyways, it's been a while since I last wrote anything, not to mention been active in Gamespot. But hey now that I'm back, hopefully I can do something about this empty space on my profile page. In today's post I'll share about what's going on in my life and more importantly a little about what's going on in my head. So without much more delay I'll start with an update about my status.

Contrary to popular belief, I am still in Perth studying. I have already graduated with a commerce degree but then I was offered the honours program and so out of ignorance and an earnest/naive? (I just feel that way but I can't help it not me to judge though) believe that I can make the world a better place I decided to take it up. For those of you who do not know what an Honours Program is, it requires you to research into an area of your choosing and write up a 15000 word thesis about something in that area that have not been covered by various other researchers around the world. In addition to this research, I believe that there is a 50% emphasis on course work which I find really annoying and needless (course work means study and exams). So far everything is alright, but the heavy workload I am facing means there is less or close to no time for gaming. But hey this does not stop me from catching up on articles on gamespot, ign and various other entertainment websites. Afterall I need my weekly entertainment previews, reviews, news and updates.

There are plenty of comments and things I want to write about on entertainment stuff I have been reading and I would do my best to write up some of these soon. I am planning to give these a post of their own so keep a look out for it. In the meantime, I'm working on an assignment on International Trade and inspired by Resident Evil 5, I've decided to do a case study on Africa. I've already found the information I need, so hopefully, after sorting it out I'll be able to finish this assignment quickly and come back here to update you guys.

Before closing, my plans now are firstly to end this honours year with a bang, reaching and completing my goal to make this world a better place. Secondly, to keep this pathetic excuse of a blog alive and possibly help it to gain in popularity. Thirdly, to catch up on all the TV shows and movies I have missed out on via dvd (already missed an entire season of House and Grey's anatomy as well as 24). Fourthly, get up to date on my manga and comic readings (these I don't really have much of a choice, manga shops are scarce in Perth and for comics I only read Runaways and have already decided to go for trades which are more economical). And last but not least, I am planning to start my PS3 raid at the end of the year and the games I am after are Resident Evil 5 (this ensures quality gaming right in the comfort of my OWN living room), hopefully, by then I get a steal for the PS3 and lower prices for the game.

That's all from me, peace to y'all and have a great and awesome Easter Weekend.

First post and a whole lot of what I've been doing during the week

This is my first ever blog post on gamespot so heres a little about me. I am an 18 year old Singaporean male studying in one of the universities in Perth, Western Australia. I am into Japanese anime, games and novels of different genres. My favourite tv shows are Grey's anatomy and House. Most of my time in Perth is spent on studying so you'll probably not hear me speak alot on what I've done in a game. But I do try out new games time and again and who knows I'll probably end up writing about them in one of my post. Otherwise these post will be centered around what I've been doing apart from studying and I'll try to keep them as entertaining as possible. Well, thats probably all for now. Last but not least, I hope to get along well with everyone here at gamespot.

Alrighty, what have I been doing for the past week. Hmm, where do I start? Oh yes, I shall start with my recent fixation on Neverwinter Nights. I was pretty bored during my free time in the holidays and found myself craving for something adventurous. And thus I randomly stumbled upon the world of D and D. This made me think back on that game I bought years ago. Neverwinter Nights. I bought a copy of the original game when it was first released and I found the graphics to be pretty bland and the open-ended gameplay pretty complexed. I didn't really like it then. But now probably because I have grown older and learnt to appreciate the ability to choose more, I kinda find this open-ended gameplay really interesting plus there was also an adventure involved yay! So, I did a little research on the game and found out that it has already produced 3 expansion packs and a sequel. I was like wow! Thats trully amazing. So, I went down to EBgames knowing that there was a 2 for $50 sale to search for a bargain on the expansion packs or even better the sequel. I didn't find any of them on sale though but I did see the Neverwinter Nights diamond edition going for AUD$49.95 which was around SGD$60 and I went for that. Its probably a tad few dollars more expensive than what they're selling it for in Singapore but oh well, thats one item off my list. All that's left is the sequel NwN2.

Now for the people interested in the games I saw in the 2 for $50 bargain area. All I've got to say is, I was pretty surprised at the selection they had there. I was expecting old, out of season games but yet there were some new and unsuspecting titles there. Notable mentions would be F.E.A.R., its expansion pack extraction point, WoW, Guild wars, GTA San Andreas and Star Wars: Empire at war. People who have been holding back and waiting for a price drop in these games should really go check it out. This is probably the lowest prices you'll ever gonna get.

Finally, let me move on to what I've being doing on gamespot. I've recently updated all of my games list. I've written a review on Company of Heroes and am planning to rewrite a couple of my older reviews because I think they're pretty vague and not helpful. I personally think that reviews should be informative and not just paragraph-long-fanboyish/girlish-statements. I don't know what people come to gamespot for but personally i come here to find out more about games and get a second opinion on whether I should be buying a particular game(the first opinion of course comes from the official GS review). So I get pretty annoyed when I click on a review that tells me how good or bad a game with without saying why. So yup hope to improve on my older reviews and of course make sure my new ones are helpful.

So yup thats about all that I've been up to(gaming wise). Hope it has been an interesting read thus far.

Disclaimer: all the above statements are just opinions of the blogger and he appologises if any of you are displeased by them. Thank you.
