I Am Back

It has been a while since I last posted. Since then, the spring college semester has ended and the house is nearly complete. My TV is hooked up with DirecTV HD satellite service, a low-profile wall mount and my PS3. My brother has given me the Wii to put in my room for now, although my mom was thinking that we could possibly hook it up downstairs. By the way, my brother is giving them his old TV, the 37" Samsung CRT HDTV. He is taking the TV that my parents had in their room, while my parents took a TV I had that was not being used for their room. My room, by the way, is painted blue.

Right now, I am watching a tied ballgame between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets at 3-3 in the bottom of the 13th inning. I got several new games along the way, as well as some new DVDs which were to entertain me during the stay at my grandparents house. I also am now Driving a 1998 Hyundai Accent, as I got into an accident with a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. My parents opened the pool a couple of days ago. Today, I bought NASCAR 09, which I played earlier tonight.

Hopefully, I will be able to post more of these updates here in my blog.

[UPDATE]: The Mets have won it on a 2-run walk-off home run by Carlos Beltran. The losing streak is snapped and I am happy with the result.

Quick Report Before Midnight

I just wanted to quickly update you on my status. (No, I am not dead, obviously.) I have been watching as much of the NFL preseason as I can, some Mets games on TV, and playing my most recent games and even games that are the oldest in my collection. I got an HDTV for myself. I still don't have service for either TV, but I hope that will change soon. By the way, my TV is a 20 inch LCD monitor by LG that can reach a maximum resolution of 1366x768. As a matter of fact, the TV is what I am using now as a monitor for my laptop. I just threw away two TVs today (both are broken). I watched WWE Raw tonight on SciFi. My PlayStation 3 (my brother and I swapped ownership of the two systems to allow him to cancel a debt he owed me) is in my room on the 20 inch HDTV.

Now, onto the biggest news. My parents want to remove and replace the upstairs with a bigger addition that will almost completely reorganize the house. The bad news is that they have yet to receive the money to do the job. They wanted a home equity loan, which is based on the appraised value of the house, which they received as being $210,000 from an appraiser sent by Chase. Another bank is supposed to send an appraiser out to the house on Tuesday. While I honestly thought $210,000 was a low number as far as our house is concerned, I don't see it reaching the $300,000 they would need to recieve the money to upgrade the house. I am thinking it is anywhere between $250,000 and $270,000, but I could be wrong. All of this being said, I really don't want them to do the work on the house now. I think it would be a waste of their money at this time to do the job. I am also really eager to acquire HD programming as soon as possible, although I know it is greedy to say that. Finally, I think that the loan is going to cause them to work harder, risking injury and fatigue to pay back the money they borrowed.

My Opinion on the Tragic Deaths of the Benoit Family

On Monday, June 25, 2007, it was reported that Chris Benoit, his son Daniel Benoit, and his wife Nancy Benoit were found dead in their house. Over the past two days more information came out that ruled it a double murder-suicide. Suffice it to say that I have no clue as to what exactly drove Chris Benoit to commit these crimes over the weekend. What I can say is that it came as a great shock when the news came out. I hope that he was found to be in a poor frame of mind, as it would at least ease the current shock that I face when I think about Chris Benoit. I can't say I knew Chris Benoit well, but he never seemed to be somebody you would anticipate to snap and commit murder and suicide.

I had wanted to discuss the topic of counseling. I think it is clear that World Wrestling Entertainment should be offering some form of counseling to its wrestlers, who are frequently on the road and spend very little time with their families. I think it should start with an automatic counseling on either the first day they arrive in WWE or the first day they receive a promotion from developmental to WWE. It has to be hard for these wrestlers to adjust from the independents, where they may participate on weekends over the course of a year, to the constant travelling they face as a wrestler with WWE.

I also feel that concussions, which I read Christopher Nowinski speculated could have caused Chris Benoit to snap, should be looked at more carefully by WWE. Anyone who suffers multiple concussions or is open to suffering multiple concussions should be checked. WWE really needs to use this tragic incident to allow itself to take a serious look at its Wellness Policy and other measures it has in place to help its wrestlers and other employees cope with a frequent life on the road.

First Ever Blog: The Random Thoughts of June 1

As I sit here typing my first ever blog, I hope that I can provide some insight into my life. I partially own a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and I completely own a PlayStation 2. Right now I am watching WWE Friday Night Smackdown on the CW (WPIX-TV, CW 11, New York, New York). My PlayStation 2 is in my room on a 40" flat screen TV (I think its 40"). When my brother who is slightly younger than me is home, I usually find myself playing my PlayStation 2 while listening to a sports game on the radio or listening to a TV broadcast. I also own a PSP, which I find myself often playing at home, although I got some use playing it while waiting for classes at college. I like to watch and play tennis, and also enjoy watching wrestling (though, admittedly, I haven't been to an independent show since a couple of years ago, when they occurred on an annual basis at my local high school). Speaking of that, for a minute, I have always thought I would want to go see either a WWE, TNA, or even a ROH show, but I haven't been to any of those promotions live events that are held in my area. Now, in addition to those, I also enjoy watching NASCAR, football, hockey, basketball, baseball, and soccer (speaking of which, Max Bretos just interviewed WWE Tag Team Champions Deuce and Domino).

Recently, I have been playing NASCAR (PSP), Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3), Virtua Tennis 3 (PS3 and PSP), and, to a lesser extent WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 (X360 and PSP), FIFA 07 Soccer (PS2 and PSP), WWE SmackDown! (PS1), EA Replay (PSP), and Major League Baseball 2K7 (PS3 and PSP). Of those, EA Replay is probably the worst as the control (or lack thereof) harms all of the Road Rash games that were included. NASCAR also suffers from poor controls on the PSP, as I have already had the analog stick (or, as many call it, nub) detach on three separate times while playing it. Thankfully, it reattaches quite easily. I also partially own a Samsung HDTV (I think it is a CRT, as it exhibits the overscan issue when playing select games on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.) The only thing missing now is HD programming, which I wish to add soon.

Anyway, if you see me on the PS3 (or, in a more rare instance, on Xbox Live) please feel free to talk with me and mention that you read my blog on GameSpot. As always, feel free to post comments, I welcome all constructive suggestions.
