I have the Ati 4850 and for a week now i was trying to update the driver that came with it which I believe is 8.5. When trying to update to 8.11 it wouldnt work and ive been downloading the Vista x64 driver. Does anyone know the tutorial, and the programs i need to clean the old drivers to get the new 8.12 to work.

I ended up messing up my video playback on my computer by deleting something in my Config.Msi folder that was considered a threat by my virus scan. Since you cant uninstall Windows Media Player on Vista I need a way to repair it anywhay I can do it with the OEM or am I out of luck and have to reinstall Vista x64?

When I was scanning my computer using Kaspersy Anti-Virus It picked up a vulnerability, it said it was coming from adobe air so I just unistalled it since i didnt know what it was in the first place. Now im getting a vulnerabilty from a file Config.Msi\7f8802.rbf located in my C drive which I cant find at all so I can delete it. Anyone have any idea of what I can do because im getting nowhere with Kaspersky right now?

Ill give the driver cleaner pro a shot but Im sure that the driver I choose is the right one since the ATI website asked a series of questions which brought me to the 4800 series 64bit driver. Im wondering do Ihave to uninstall the old Catalyst Control Center?

Im trying to install the update driver for my Ati 4850 but the 8.11 Catalyst software suite wont install. It will extract everything but when it comes time to install it will just stop responding.  I have Vista 64 and im installing the driver they are tell me to but no luck.  I read somewhere on the forum that I was suppose to uninstall my orignal driver then try to install this but all that got me was a bloated screen. Any suggestions?

I had a discussion with my friend and he said that the CPU I have wont work because of the motherboard I choose FSB is higher then the one for my CPU. Also he said that since the standard memory for ram is DDR2 1066 that a DDR2 800 ram stick wont work. Is any of that true, do I have to change my motherboard?

Thank you for the motherboard suggestions im going to have to see which motherboard I can get that will last me, while being able to handle a decent sound card as well. Im going to take your advice and not get a Xfire mobo since I dont think I need one to play Prototype and COD4 and Starcraft 2 when it comes out.

In general what do I need more of PCI Slots or PCI Express x1? The only thing extra I will add other then the GPU is a sound card.
