@kiramasaki Well a bad analogy here but just like the movie "Ratatouille", the simplest by-product can sometimes be the best. All the games you mentioned are great and they all have the bells and whistles to provide entertainment, but Journey was able to provide that sense of enjoyment in those short hours of playtime and for me, games are here to provide entertainment and a time well spent, nothing more nothing less.

@kiramasaki I think Journey did not reinvent the wheel but pushes it inches forward and surprisingly it worked. The genre is classified as "Adventure", but doesn't feel to me that it is the right genre just like MMORPG, maybe a new one like MMOA (if there's no such thing yet) ?

The multiplayer aspect was surprising just like Demon's Souls when it first came out (I believe DS was GOTY also one time here). Dishonored is a great game and just like so many games I've spent hours into, Journey took me by surprise and actually provided entertainment and a time well spent.

It is GOTY for a simple fact that it's a new genre and it never gets old. Just like Dear Esther, it's short but you can play it through multiple times and for < $15 ($8 right now if you have PS Plus), it's money and time well spent.

IMO, it's close to GW 2 as they both "push the envelope", and a very tight choice for me. Although I spent more time playing GW 2 obviously, I actually had a lot of fun with Journey and can't wait for the next game or sequel from the developers.

Just like IGN, good choice GS!
