Well it's the moment you've all been waiting for (probably)!

Continuing from 2, 24, my favourite TV Show is.....

#1 Red Dwarf

Red Dwarf is a british sci-fi spoof sitcom written for the BBC, which ran from 1988 to 1999, spanning a total of 8 seasons. A 9th season has never been made, but in 2009 a 4 part special of Red Dwarf aired on the british channel Dave. However the special did not build upon the cliffhanger the season left off after season 8, and was a completely new story for the characters. In my opinion the special was entertaining, and a nice return to the series, but the story and setting was quite ridiculous in parts.

Red Dwarf's main characters throughout the majority of the series' are Dave Lister, the last known living human in the universe, a hologram of his former bunkmate Arnold Rimmer, who was brought back by the ships computer, Holly, an AI with an IQ of 6000, at least before it came under the effects of "computer senility" after 3 million years alone. Also the series features Cat, a creature evolved over millions of years from Listers cat, Frankenstein. Also from the end of season 2, a mechanoid named Kryten joins the crew, after he is discovered in his crashed ship, Nova 5.

Lister and Rimmer were part of the crew of the Jupiter Mining Ship, Red Dwarf, a ship which fell victim to a massive radiation leak after Rimmer inadequately sealed the drive plates of the ship. Lister was the only human survivor of this event, as we was sealed in a Stasis pod in way of punishment for smuggling a pet cat on board the ship. The cat he smuggled was supposed to be incinerated, but instead was hidden in the cargo hold beneath the ship. 3 million years after the leak, the ships computer, Holly, unlocked the stasis pod, allowing Lister back into the ship. ForListerthe 3 million years which had elapsed felt like 2 seconds due to being in Stasis, and the ships computer explains to him how the ship was now 3 million years from earth, and Dave was probably the last human being alive. In the first episode Holly brings back a Hologram of Listers dead bunk mate, Rimmer, ironically the most hated person onboard the ship before the accident, but the person with whom Lister had shared the most words. Later on in the episode, the two meet a strange humanoid called "Cat", a being of a race which had evolved over 3 million years in the hold, from Listers cat (which was pregnant by the way).
Other characters join the crew in later seasons, but I'm not going to spoil too much!
