I prefer JRPGs, as it has three subgenres: turn-based, strategy, and action. It can have cheesy stories, yes, but that doesn't mean it's the norm. I'll take a cheesy story with well-developed characters than aWRPG with no story and no character development. I like the anime visuals, since, I don't know, I like anime more than video games. Really, my biggest beef with JRPGs are the few games that require excessive grinding, which is why I don't play MMOs, since that's all I ever did in those games.

I like WRPGs for their customization, but more JRPGs are starting to do that now, and the fact that it gives you choices and make the world have more freedom, but that seriously hinders the plot, IMO.

splinter-OP

Ermm, Planescape Torment, KotOR, Fallout and Baldurs Gate have amazing stories and character.

The WRPGs I've played were like that, like Fable, which fit my over-generalization of WRPGs. Well, probably not a good idea to base a whole genre around a terrible game, but, yeah, that game detered me from touching WRPGs.

PS3. Planned on getting the game for it long before XIII became multi-plat, plus the 360 version is a port.

I was mad, because the game is going to take longer to get over here, as if it wasn't taking long enough as it is. We haven't even seen gameplay, yet. Then, I realized S-E was smart, tapping into the 15 million or so 360s in the U.S. and Europe, though I doubt many 360 owners are JRPG fans, and was even more impressed that they weren't stupid enough to sell a 360 version in Japan and watch it flop.

Still don't care, though, as I want Versus more (mature story and gameplay), and the FFs are too highly praised for their own good, though they are good games.

Tales of Vesperia, Persona 4, Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, and White Knight Chronicles.

I haven't payed enough attention to non-RPGs lately, but Imfamous looks pretty sweet.

Well, the only advantage the 360 ever had was a year on the PS3, and RROD, which may have contributed to more 360 sales. Maybe MS made a faulty machine on purpose. Most reports have proved that the PS3 gained certain milestones in shorter time than the 360 did in the same amount of time since their respective launches.

Really, though, I find it impressive that the 360 has sold this well despite only mattering in two of the three markets.

Yeah, but I was planning on buying it well before E3, so most likely I'll get the PS3 version.

On the 360, it's Tales of Vesperia.

Well, if it is somehow true, FF13 already got released on the PS3 in Japan and somehow no one knew about, and S-E lied about not even starting on the 360 port yet.

No, it probably won't come out for another 2-3 years here due to the simultaneous release. Too bad S-E is doing the same thing with The Last Remnant as they are with FF13 (released the finished version first.)

Well, the PS3 is getting Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, and White Knight Chronicles on the JRPG front, and most of the WRPGs are multiplatform.

If you really want RPGs though, get another system.
