[QUOTE="dalucifer0"]I prefer JRPGs, as it has three subgenres: turn-based, strategy, and action. It can have cheesy stories, yes, but that doesn't mean it's the norm. I'll take a cheesy story with well-developed characters than aWRPG with no story and no character development. I like the anime visuals, since, I don't know, I like anime more than video games. Really, my biggest beef with JRPGs are the few games that require excessive grinding, which is why I don't play MMOs, since that's all I ever did in those games.
I like WRPGs for their customization, but more JRPGs are starting to do that now, and the fact that it gives you choices and make the world have more freedom, but that seriously hinders the plot, IMO.

Ermm, Planescape Torment, KotOR, Fallout and Baldurs Gate have amazing stories and character.
The WRPGs I've played were like that, like Fable, which fit my over-generalization of WRPGs. Well, probably not a good idea to base a whole genre around a terrible game, but, yeah, that game detered me from touching WRPGs.
