At this point I only see the Xbox as the real console.
Sony's hardware has been lacking for years and although I grew up on Sony and still love a lot of their games, I'd prefer they go the Sega route and ditch the hardware war and just make games for other consoles, pc, and phones/tablets. Imagine how well a ...Knack? game on iOS would sell. Sony would still make a fortune and they'll always be Sony. Besides, they can still compete with iOS devices with their handhelds like the Vita(lol).
Microsoft is Microsoft. They have a giant chunk of the PC market. They are already a beast even when you ignore their video game profits. However, with the obviously superior Xbox One putting the PS4 in 2nd place, which is the only other place to be in cuz let's not even pretend Wii U is a real competitor, it seems like there's no doubt now that Microsoft is on top as far as console wars go.
I'd love to see Nintendo drop the console hardware and just make games/handhelds, and perhaps we're better off with PS4 being around just to keep Microsoft from getting out of hand, and maybe if Sony were able to accept they were in 2nd, they could turn some more of their attention towards the PC market and get creative and revive it a bit. I mean, 90 something percent of us are playing our games on Windows, so obviously Microsoft will continue to be a major part of PC gaming. I'd like to see them get more involved and make it their thing.
Nintendo will have multiplatform games, Microsoft will have a 1st place console and focus on the PC side of gaming, and Sony will have Knack. I think this would be good for everyone.
