Also, would the 9600GT fit into the case and run on a 300W PSU? bedram793Take a look at http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/xfx_8600_gt/10.html and then http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-9600-gt,1780-18.html The former gives you W consumption on the 8600 GTS (i went as far as assuming that that's the model you have =]) The latter on the 9600 They both have basically the same consumption, so you should be fine if your 8600 runs well

You could probably get a new power supply. IF you have an ATX case (the standard), then an ATX power supply will most probably fit your case.
Make sure you have enough of the cables you need, though! (As in, make sure the power supply comes with enough cables to power into all of your components) A power supply is no good if it doesn't power all your stuff =]
That'd be the safest route to go, but I think you'd be surprised to see what cards run on a 300W PSU.
My personal approach to this issue would be: 1) Buy my desired card 2) Plug it in 3) Try to run the system 4) If it doesn't work, then I get a new power supply =]
albeit, not the wisest thing to do...hehe
Also, you might want to look into a GeForce 9600 or Radeon HD4850if you're really looking to upgrade your 8600. They're sub-$200 cards that run exceptionally well. Your power supply just might or might not run them, though =P
The new Dell Studio XPS with Intel i7 Processing =]
Yummmmmmm
Anybody got their grubby paws on it yet? I ordered one and it should be here before Christmas. Ugh. Too long to wait!
Studio XPS 435MT, Intel Core i7-920 processor (8MB L2 Cache 2.66GHz)
6GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1067MHz Tri-Channel
512MB ATI Radeon HD 4850
500GB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM
16X DVD+/-RW and 16X DVD-ROM
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
350W Power Supply – (Not so yummy, but it runs the thing)
Not the best gaming system ever, but I think it's a good deal for only 1.5k! =]
[QUOTE="rragnaar"]They've been doing it this way for over a year now. It really isn't enough to get worked up about. The things you need to know are in the text of a review, not the score. Can you tell me the difference between a game that gets a 9.0 or an 8.9?Bloodbath_87No, but 9.8 and 9.7 are both much different than 9.5 and 10. GTA IV would have probably gotten a 9.8 or 9.7 in the old rating system. See, I completely agree with that. It was just EASIER to determine how good a game is based on the scoring. Isn't that what this site is about...? Providing the users with the best game information? It makes me seem like they're just not doing their job anymore lol Idk. Like, I dig most of the text reviews and i looove "The Good" and "The Bad" lists and the game emblems... But I kind of feel let down by the scoring system. I guess maybe it just takes a bit to get used to? (although a year should have been enough lol) It just seems really strange to me that games get 10.0s now. That's just against everything I believe in =\ I thought only legendary, amazing, revolutionary games earned that. Not anymore.
Why are all games receiving such similar scores?
Is it just me, or are all popular games lately getting 8.5s...?
Whatever happened to GameSpot's old system? It actually helped me decide which games were worthwhile and which ones weren't.
Now we just get 8.0, 8.5, 9.0...blah blah.
Anybody else upset about this?
