It is smart. Many gamers are of an older generation(like me, and old man at 33), than the used to be. A smart console will appeal to hardcore gamers and to younger children. That way one family can own one system. I think that is one reason the WII does so well. it still has some appeal to an older generation, but the kids will beg for it.
For me, personally, i had to pick other. the biggest flop to me was two Worlds. i had HUGE expectations for that game. I mean, an open ended rpg, being compared to Oblivion, with mutiplayer. I finished it in 2 days, and sold it on the third..sigh.
EASY- Mass effect. Have you read the reviews coming out on it? 9.75 from game Informer. The games looks to move the entire sci fi rpg genre to a new level.
are you on crack? if you are disappointed with the 360 game library, have you even looked at the competitions? Some of the best games Microsoft has ever seen have either just come out or will be out soon. And there is no reason to think more top quality games are not on their way. There is no other system I would rather play games on, including the PC(which of course you will have to continually upgrade to get the best new games).
I think what this does not show is that eventually the market for new next gen consoles will decline. many people, myself included, pick one console and stick with it. As the xbox and the wii have sold well the past 2 years, sony may find that there are simply less and less buyers for new systems on the market, period. in other words, the room for the continued growth that xbox and wii had may not be there. I think what has many people proclaiming Sony dead also, is the fact that after a year, their game library is not where xbox's was after a year. Wii, of course, is appealing to an entirely different market.
I initially bought my 360 because it had the games I wanted. i have to admit, there were other considerations. I kept hearing about sony 3 and the problems it was having. it also looked like a more expensive system with similar capabilities and less exclusive titles, so i went with xbox. I was a ps2 owner, so if anything, i had been biasedin favor ofsony before I really compared.
I think it is the hard drive. I have been able to boot anything enough even to scan the disk. A friend of mine told me the same thing, but I thought I would post here before i run out this weekend, buy a hard drive, and reinstall windows...sigh.
