Whatever reason he has for this, I feel like it could have been done in a way that both respects women and their image in the game as well as convey the story he wants to make. Also, his comments were pretty bad in and of themselves.
Man, Gamespot staff sounds bitter. I believe they are just as upset as the rest of us. Lets give them a break, they can't control the voters, the trolls, and I doubt they expected this outcome either. Quotes: "The cartoon duck won. So, that happened." "Launchpad won by virtue of votes and is ready to receive all your cheers and adulation (if any)..."
Games that incourage interaction between people through online play like Call of Duty, Halo, WoW, etc are fine. These games have depth, a story line, and some form of action. There are those evil games like Farmville that have no depth and little thought involved and no definite end or point. We must promote the good games, but discourage the evil games of Facebook and similar sites.
I think eventually all games will be downloaded, not bought in a store. It is the natural progress of technology. Look at newspapers, they are steadily in decline and now a lot people get news off the Internet.
The whole point of bashing social games is to keep game developers from wasting their energy on something stupid like Farmville and other Facebook games and spend more time perfecting normal videogames. In some cases they dont do this enough already, so why should they split their attention with social games? Plus we all know Facebook can lead to nothing but trouble or at the very least a computer addiction. Plus Im tired of everyone talking about Facebook. I say we bury it in computer history and never talk about it again.
