It is not a conspiracy theory, It is a perception problem that games media never want to address. Give transparency, honesty and show some passion for video games. Because I cant remember the last time I show any. Engage the criticism don't just bury your head in the sand when people start to criticize the status quo. Also do note. that reviews are a subjectivity in the guise of objectivity.
Just want to say much props to CDPR for taking a stance for the consumer. These are the type of developers gamers should be supporting. I know for fact this is the type of news that the folks over holdtheline.com will most definitely agree with!
Hey Mr. Proofreader of articles for Gamespot. It is Ubuntu not Ubunto... I mean really... You can tell CBS now own Gamespot. First Cnet required to pull a best of CES choice, and now blatantly wrong spelling in a article link.. Oh can Gamespot go back to the 2006 version?
This just goes to show the typical stereotype that happens when the term game .or gamer comes up in a tragic event, SOoapparently all gamers are all male, lazy, unmotivated, potential waiting in thee wind mass murderers. Huh thats good to know. Talk about stereotyping gamers wow. I most definitely know now that I am going to be participating in this campaign called #Wearegamers by @htlcom that is looking to show how wide ranging the gamer demographic really is. So sick of this stupid stereotype because of ignorance and fear. I say gamers actually speak up on this one. The controllers in our hands lets play the game to win and change the stigma to the term "gamer".
@Therimight My point remains when http://www.dsogaming.com/news/battlefield-3-no-modding-tools-due-to-frostbite-2s-complexity/ this is the mentality of anyone using the said game engine. It does not necessarily speak well to what the overall company tends to think of modders in general. It is almost like they feel envious that someone who mods for a hobby might possibly come up with something potentially better. Then they can. Well let the nickel and diming begin for all those glorious map packs. Because we lowly modders can never understand the complexities of programming in C++ or C or Java. Me thinks some game designers think to highly of themselves. and not enough of their potential customers.
What would win over gamers the most? The reason most TES games have such a loyal following is because the community, that Bioware claims they listen to, can fix or improve upon the game via mods. This also allows developers to know what players really want by being able to examine what the most popular mods are. So BioWare how about a toolkit like we got for DAO? If there's not one then my interest in DA3 is minimal to say the least. Oh wait my bad Frostbite 2 engine. I forgot modders wouldn't know what to do with it right EA? Is that why people who are using the BF3 color swap to get rid of the crap blue hue are being banned? Classy customer service right there Mr. EA service provider.
@kartelas @WolfGrey Then I would recommend that you checkout holdtheline.com as the reviews that are being done there are by gamers. Who are doing the reviews and articles on their own time without getting any compensation for it. They are simply doing it because they are fans of this thing called gaming.
Yet again gaming journalist just do not get it. The reason gamers are mad is not for the series ending. But, for the fact that we were told in as little as 2 weeks prior to the launch by Casey Hudson no less that to quote the follows is from Hudson's own mouth "It's not so much that there is a fixed set of alternative endings, but all of your choices really determine how things end up in the universe. So, how you approach the end-game, for every player, you're going to have a different set of results in terms of who is alive and who is dead, and which civilisations survived and which ones were wiped out. There is a huge set of consequences that start stacking up as you approach the end-game. And even in terms of the ending itself, it continues to break down to some very large decisions. So it's not like a classic game ending where everything is linear and you make a choice between a few things - it really does layer in many, many different choices, up to the final moments, where it's going to be different for everyone who plays it." That right there tells me about a non-linear ending with the choices we had made up to that point in the series mattering. Chosing 3 different colors for an ending is not exactly what the above quote would describe now is it. I love the fact that game journalist think that we are complaining ,because we think we are "entitled". No, we are complaining because every comment made about the ending of the series was a flat out LIE.
