Personally, I do see a slight connection, but i'd say it's merely a coincidence. And you say the sunken city may resemble Junon or Midgar, well you may remember while walking over the moonflow, they did say that it was a city built entirely on a bridge, which Midgar and Junon both weren't. If anything, in FFX-2, the Shinra thing might be a little easter egg. But again, I think it's just a coincidence.
I don't know. In terms of emotion brought on, I would probaly have to say Final Fantasy X as Tidus and Auron both "died" which was sad, but then Yuna didn't want to lose Tidus and so FFX had the most emotional ending.

Yeah, i'm a big fan of emotional crap, so FFX, although, FFVII's is also very awesome!
Funnily, it's all thanks to my mum that I love final fantasy! She bought FFVII just after it came out cause she thought it looked quite good, but she hated it. Me, being a person who hates things going to waste, decided to play it just so I don't feel bad. And now, 9 years later, it's still my favourite game ever!!!
I've completed the main story line, all the daedra shrines and all the guilds and arena. So what now? I could get my stats up full but thats boring! So I guess start over maybe.
