Hello Gamespot,

I have just bought a Gigabyte 7950 and am now looking for a monitor to complete my build. I'm looking for an IPS monitor that is below or around 300$. The two monitors that I am looking at are both from Asus.

The first is the PA238QR: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=69432&promoid=1139

The second is the PA248Q: http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=73621&promoid=1139

My dilemma is that I want to be able to get 60fps from my 7950 for at least a few years, and I don't know if it will be able to do that at 1200p. Is the difference between 1200p and 1080p huge?

If you guys have any other suggestions for IPS monitors, please let me know. I'm looking for monitors that have an HDMI port, as I'll be hooking my PS3 up to it.

Thanks

I'd get a 7950 if I were you. I'm in the midst of buying too, and I'm going to go with a 7950 over a 660ti or a 670 because the 7950 is better for overclocking and can easily reach 7970 performance when overclocked. Plus AMD just released the Never Settle: Reloaded bundle, where you get two free games with either the 78xx series or 79xx series cards. If you're considering Nvidia for PhysX, I wouldn't factor it in, as it's only used by ~10 games anyway.

Also, I bought a 750watt power supply. You might want to consider doing the same, just for some headroom. I bought the Corsair HX750.

I might just get one SP for the CPU cooler and keep the stock one that comes with the Hyper 212+ (as I assume the difference is not that big).

I'm going to go with 3 aerocools (two at the front and one on the sidewindow). As for the other slots, should I go with Corsair AFs? I think if I do, I'll go for the performance edition fans, hopefully it's not too loud, and if I mind it I'll just undervolt them.

Shouldn't you get SP series fans for the CPU cooler? I heard that it's better to have static pressure fans as opposed to airflow fans for the cooler.

Hey Gamespot, I'm looking into buying a bunch of 120mm case fans for my Antec Eleven Hundred (it has 7 additional fan mounts). Can anyone recommend me good fans that push a lot of air at relatively low dBs? Also, I bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ for my i5-3570k and I was wondering what would be a good optional second fan for it. Is Corsair SP series a good choice? Do I need a fan controller as well? I got a UD5H which doesn't have individual fan control in it's BIOS. If so, what would you all recommend? I would prefer fan recommendations that aren't noctuas. I'm not a big fan of the brown. Thanks guys! :)

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building a rig, and I'm currently looking for RAM. I have an i5-3570k and will most likely be getting a 660ti. I have been looking into RAM, and it seems that a 1600mhz set like this from Corsair: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345 is a good choice. However, it's not listed under the supported RAM sets on Gigabyte's website: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-z77x-ud5h.pdf

Does anyone know if this RAM would be supported? The UD5H needs dual channel memory, which is what the Corsair is.

Also, do you guys have any other suggestions for RAM? I plan to overclock my CPU. I'm not sure about my RAM (as I don't know if there's a significant performance increase or not).

Thanks

Batman's survival at the end pissed me right the hell off. His inexplicable and unexpected repair of the auto-pilot is just stupid... Especially when they didn't show him leaving the air vehicle...Also, the camera clearly zoomed right into his face and he had an expression of "I'm going to die, but it's worth it" on his face.

Then suddenly at the very end he somehow survives?!?!? F*** that. All of that build-up was for nothing then. What a terrible ending.

I was also wondering why the would-be-Robin cop was getting so much camera time. I just wanted him to go away midway through the movie, especially his investigation scenes. A completely new character in an established trilogy should probably not be getting ~45 minutes of camera time...

I'm looking to buy a TV for the PS3 I recently bought but I'm unsure about what type of TV is the best for gaming. I've read that Plasmas are really great at capturing motion and quick action, but I don't know how confident I feel since Plasmas are a somewhat dated technology.

I don't think 3D is a complete necessity, and I can make-do without it.

All I want is a TV that will provide really great picture quality, clear motion capture with no blurring, and, as an important side-note, I will also be wanting to use this TV as a PC monitor when I end up getting a PC in a few years.

I'd say my budget is a maximum of 800-900$, which means I'd most likely go for the smallest size of TV available in a series.

If anyone could help me out by suggesting what brand and what model is great for gaming, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

I am in the process of buying a PC but am unsure about what monitor to get. I have heard pretty good things about the ASUS monitor, but I am unable to find a lot of information about the Samsung. I went to NCIX today, and they happen to have a sale on the Samsung for 199$ which matches the price if the ASUS. The guy at NCIX I talked to said the Samsung is excellent for gaming and it's better than any other 200$ ASUS monitor right now. Here are the two monitors: Samsung: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001535CVF ASUS: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049 I am unsure about which monitor to get because the Samsung has an 8ms response time compared to the ASUS's 2ms response time. I'd be gaming on this PC. Specific games include: Mass Effect 3, F1 2011, Skyrim, Guild Wars 2. What do you guys think?
