No but it functions similar to a single nation, economically. Right now most nations' power comes from its economic status and the EU is a power house. Being an economic union puts Europe one step closer to becoming a single nation.

yeah a single country a lot of us don't want the EU rubbish people don't get a chance to vote if we want to join or not we are spouse to be a democracy and if we are we should get a vote :evil:

I think the real reason why the EU exists at all is for Caucasian camaraderie...rather than diplomacy. It really revealed this when Turkey tried to join and a bunch of Europeans rejected them as not being European "enough". camreeno360

in my experience the EU blackmails poor former soviet states to join with promise of wealth but in doing so take away there independents the EU is so corrupt it pathetic none of the powerful EU countries have been given a vote and that's what we want a chance to chose are own fate ;)

Some of the advantages of joining the EU is trade benefits (within and outside of the EU). The commodities are cheaper within the EU boundaries, since taxes and tolls are lower when traveling from country to country. Also the market grows - that is there are more direct people to sell too.

Also increases in stability and price transparency.

These are economic reasons. The EU is working on ethical, legal, environmental, military, among other topics that would help integrate the countries.

If the UK left, economically it would hurt the UK. Culturally speaking it would hurt them, since the other countries would look down upon the UK, hurting international relations and organization. The UK's sovereignty would be regained, since the EU does take some of it away.

The EU is generally there to increase productivity, improve international relations, and work together as a European identity. :|

nope the UK has the north sea gas and oil we also have large untapped reserves on the Falklands also we want to keep are own laws and are own currency the only reason the EU wants the UK is because of the gas and the oil so they don't have to keep buying off of russia the last country they tried to get oil and gas off of was Norway and Norway told them to go stick it ;)
