Perhaps the only downside of Steam Machine is the lack of exclusive titles. I like consoles because of exclusives. So if I already have a proper gaming PC, having a Steam Machine is basically unnecessary.
^ This. I have every console for their exclusives, and have a beast rig that's multiplicatively more powerful than the Steam Machine for my PC games. The Steam Machine is completely useless to me.
I think Newell bit off a lot more than he can chew. I'm not sure he anticipated the redundancy of what the Steam Machine is.
PC gamers praising the Steam Machine for what it is strikes me as a bit of a contradiction.
Smash Bros. Is one of the most competitive fighters there is char... Are u serious?
competitive =/= technical
char isn't wrong. Gameplay-wise, Smash Bros is pretty basic
You are prey to the biggest misconception about Smash Bros technicality. The best thing about Smash Bros was that it was DECEPTIVELY simple. If you were to face someone who was even half-competent about Smash Bros, I guarantee you'd consistently lose without even landing a single hit.
Smash Bros was more technical than Street Fighter, Mortal Combat and Marvel VS. Capcom. (And I competitively played all three series)
Just because motorbikes sell doesn't mean cars will be replaced, they can co exist and while they both do the same thing they are for different audiences. A tablet for gaming to a gamer has about as much appeal a bike to a person with 2 kids... Just doesn't meet his/hers requirements, might be fun and some may have a bike but they sure as hell have car as well.
Enjoy the analogy.
I'm off to play CSGO.
^ This ^ There's room for every platform in this world. Scoffing at the existence of something that legitimately exists is like saying global warming is a hoax and carries no merit.
While I admit that I preferred to play CoD and BF3 and multiplats in general on the 360 for its graphical superiority, playing PS3 exclusive games like LittleBigPlanet2 and The Last of Us were an absolute joy. The Last of Us especially showed that the PS3 still had an ace up its sleeve in terms of graphical ability, placing it well around if not above any game I've seen on the 360.
So no. I maintain that both consoles were equal, in that they had their own respective strengths and weaknesses.
The TC isn't crazy. It's a huge possibility considering the burgeoning market for Tablet games. I recently purchased an iPad air and was pleasantly surprised at the graphical quality of games like Infinity Blade 3, Real Racing 3 and a litany of other titles.
Throw in the fact that there ARE traditional controllers available for all tablets, and that you can connect these tablets to a big screen HDTV, and it's well within safe assumption that Tablets/Smartphones will be a much more capable avenue for mobile gaming, even more capable than current traditional mobile gaming devices such as the 3DS and PSP.
It's about having an open mind. I understand most inhabitants here on SW tend to not like change and mock anything resembling a new or unique idea, but this is already sort of happening as we speak. Simple unbiased research alone is enough to show it. Hell, money talks, and the sort of money that's already flowing through tablet/smartphone games speaks volumes.
I'm with you on this one TC.
