At this point I just vote with my wallet. I don't care if everyone else is willing to buy a new CoD every year, they're not innovating, they're waaaaaaay over-pricing their products, etc etc. I can understand premium content, but what a lot of these companies do would not be considered premium content if they hadn't put that label on themselves.
I feel royally screwed by vista. It's as if they preinstalled it on every computer to make people upgrade to W7 a year or two later. Good marketing scheme, but kind of transparent really.
I heard that PS3s are actually better at being servers than being gaming consoles. All in all though, a PS3 is a good value as a console. Blu-ray, wifi and free web access for games make it nice combo package. I like how much it upscales my videos as well. But for gaming, I will always be a PC guy. I like to mod and check out other peoples amazing mods. Free content and large active communities all sharing resources just can't be beat. I do have to say though, it will PROBABLY cost more to get a gaming PC than it would to just buy a 360 or PS3, you'll spend a lot of time tweaking, clocking etc... With a console you plug and play. For me, I like to customize, so I don't mind the hassle. If I ever really wanted a bigger monitor, I could just drag my rig into the livingroom and get some hdmi converters like a true champion of unnecessary but neat things computers can do.
They make incremental changes not out of necessity, but because people are willing to spend the money on a newer system with better features. Consumers' fault for perpetuating the market in this direction. Don't whine.
