1. I chose the 6850 because of his budget.
2. That RAM is the same price as the RAM I chose for him. In fact, since he'd be getting the RAM as part of the combo I selected, he'd be getting it at a LOWER price than the RAM your link leads to. Also, the RAM your link leads to does not have heat spreaders. So, in essence, with my recommendation, he'd be getting BETTER RAM for a cheaper price.

Maybe, but heat spreaders do nothing, and that run won't run at 1600MHz unless the OP clocks it up to that speed.
My point is, with the BETTER RAM I chose for him, why would he choose your recommendation? He's getting better RAM for a CHEAPER price. Even if he doesn't use its better capabilities now, perhaps he'll want to in the future. Why not get RAM that can overclock to a higher frequency and has a lower CAS latency, when it's CHEAPER than RAM that can't run at a higher frequency and has a higher CAS latency? Essentially, you're telling him to choose a product that's worse than the one I recommended, for a HIGHER price. Does that make any sense? NO!
I concede. It is a good choice.
