We are talking about Lair here -- GeOW and Mass Effect are graphicaly immpressive ...
but how big are the levels? Lair levels reach 32km x 32km ( compared to Oblivion total ****of 16 milles sq. )
Simple fact in its current form Lair requires progressive mesh / streaming technogoly in the CELL to run ...
On a smaller scale or graphically downgraded or with loading in levels could it run on 360 - yes ...
Atm - no ... unless you have sovled the Von Nueman Bottleneck and RAM access bottlenecks ...
wow, you know nothing about what your talking about. Progressive mesh is just an equation that can be done on a simple program, its basically a cheap version of LOD. Streaming is to the disk, bluray is slower than DVD9.
Blu-ray is not slower than DVD.
a 1x blu-ray drive is about twice as fast as a 1x dvd drive.
progressive mesh can be done on other systems, but it can only be done in the scale that it is in lair on the ps3
Yes..it is. That's why Oblivion PS3 had to use the hard-drive in oreder to speed up load times.

"Admittedly, Blu-Ray looks dicey from several non-capacity angles. Blu-Ray movies require a 1.5x Blu-Ray drive, or 54Mbits/second. Sony announced that PS3 uses a 2x BD drive, which is 72Mbits/second or 9MB/second. The Xbox 360 uses a 12x DVD, which should give it about 16MB/second. That is significantly faster for games and will result in shorter load times. And that 12x DVD drive should be a whole lot cheaper. (Note that the PS3 drive will do 8x DVD, and even that is faster than 2x BD.)"
Says Ozymandias in response: "This is pretty much what I've been saying regarding drive speeds. A good example of where we're pretty clearly agreeing."
So, they're in agreement. The PS3 will load slower than the Xbox 360, leading one to question whether bragging about 22GB discs is the most prudent course of action. Let's hope they use the compression technologies touched on in the debate to shrink the data down considerably, even if it obviates a key selling point of the console.
if you compare the 2x drive in the PS3 to the 12x drive in the 360. But with a same speed Blu-ray and DVD drive, Blu-ray will be faster
They aren't saying Blu-ray is slower in that article. they're saying the 2x drive in the PS3, is slower than the 12x drive in the 360.
Whatever makes you feel better, LOL!

It's not that simple.
Lair is taking advantage of the PS3's strengths, which the 360 may lack.
Gears was developed from the ground up on the 360 so it may utilize some of the 360's strengths which the PS3 may lack.
There is nothing on Gears that couldnt be done on the PS3 to be honest. Its a great looking game but from a technical standpoint Lair is superior.
According to EPIC gears can not be done on PS3 in it's current form. Factor 5 say lair cant be done on 360 in it's current form. So if we listen to dev's, each systems own exclusive plays to the uniqe architecture of that console so much, it couldnt be done on the other console. It also shows that where there is a difference between the two, they are big. But little at the same time. Unless your saying EPIC is wrong and factor five is right because your a fanboy. in that case Ive mistaken.
what are you serious?? you do know unreal is comin to the PS3 too and its goin to blow gears of war out of the water..its crazy to think gears of war cant be done on the ps3..lol..and give me the link where they say it cant be done on the PS3..
Since Epic is working with the PS3 hardware and the Xbox 360 hardware could Gears of War ever work on the Playstation 3? "256 MB of RAM makes a huge difference. There is no way we could ever do Gears of War on 256, we had trouble fitting everything on 512MB.

hahahaha epic already failed there
ps3 has 512mb
It's split.....PS3's main RAm is 256
