It was time for a serious upgrade.. well.. it's not like it was bad before. This is replacing two 780ti's. The problem wasn't the power, the 780s have plenty of it. The problem was always VRAM. So even if it could run a 4k game smoothly, it would eventually pass 3gb of VRAM usage and frames would severely dip.
The new Titan X's are like two boulders, the VRAM barely affects it with 12GB each (!). It easily score 20,000+ in 3dmark's firestrike which blew all my previous benchmarks out of the water. They were a breeze to overclock and somewhat quieter than the two 780ti's.
All in all, an expensive purchase but well worth it especially for 4k gaming.
