Memories

Looking back on my time here at GameSpot, I see quite a lot of good times. The internet is unlike real life in that I can look back and see exactly what I did years ago.

6 years ago I joined a union named GSDA, GameSpot's Designer Area. I had no clue what designing was at the time, somebody just invited me so I hit "Accept." This pretty much launched me down a path of digital art, which I've been on pretty much ever since. Today, im at college studying graphic design, which I plan to make a career out of. Aside from all the time I've wasted on this site, I'm thankful that somebody invited me to join that union. Today, it's dead, just like pretty much every union I've ever been a part of. However, GSDA and all the other design unions I've been in have been a huge influence on my life.

I remember that noob designer named DG in the GSDA who thought he actually knew something about designing. Today I've designed logos for businesses, and looking back at some of my first designs, I wonder how I've ever gotten here. I remember union games in the CGU, and wish that place had been more active. I remember some of the best times at the FEURPG, with its many deaths and revivals, and I'd like to thank everyone who participated. I remember all those Zelda unions, all with mostly the same members that are all dead today. I remember the JCU and its riduclous rule breaking, and look at it today and it's completely dead because the two most active users got banned. I remember back when Rich Gallup, Greg Kasavin, and Jeff Gerstmann were still on staff. I remember all those users from OT who've gotten banned. I remember when I made my thousandth post, and today I have over 15, 000.

I've enjoyed my time here, and I don't think I'm going to spend much more. That's not to say this is a goodbye post, by no means. But there really isn't much left for me here, and I just don't have the time. I still post a few places, but it's nothing like what it used to be.

And whoever it was who invited me to join the GSDA, thank you. You shaped a career.

A question for the masses

How many of you would be interested in a union RPG, just like my FEURPG or the JCU Star Wars RPG? I'm thinking of starting one up, and I'm wondering if I could get players and DMs.

The. Stupidest. Thing. I. Have. Ever. Seen. In. My. Life.

I watched a WWE "match" for the first time today.

Wow.

I seriously can't believe anyone finds entertainment in that. I mean everyone knows it's fake,(With the exception of a guy I know who thought it was real and was a huge fan for 20 years before someone told him) but it even looks fake. Most of the moves look like they cause more pain to the guy doing the move than the guy recieving it. "Oh man, he jumped into the air, grabbed my head, pushed it down about 3 inches, and then catapulted over top of me and slammed face first into the ground, and jumped up like nothing happened! Oh, suddenly my head hurts so much! I think I'm going to fall over and moan in pain for a minute or two!" *crowd goes wild* And most of the "submission holds" inflict no pain at all.

I remember the announcer once saying "he is in extruciating pain right now" supposedly because the other "wrestler" was holding him by the legs like a wheelbarrow. Kids do that for fun, it's not painful in the slightest. Also I remember one guy putting the other in a "chokehold" with one arm wrapped around his neck and the other arm underneath his shoulder. Now I'm no expert, but I do know when you want to choke someone out, you put both arms around his neck, or at least one arm all the way around, not one arm halfway around and the other wrapped under his armpit.

And on top of that, these super built guys with arms the size of my torso are crawling around like they haven't slept for a week. If they have the energy to gain that much muscle, they can dance around and pretend to wrestle for 5 minutes without passing out. But no, that just doesn't fly.

And if anyone wants to know which match it was, it was Chris Jericho vs. Kane I saw about30 minutes ago just flipping through channels. I couldn't even watch the whole thing, I turned the TV off halfway through.

If you want to see a fight, go watch UFC. That's real.
